President Abbott transformed the University and definitely left the University in a much better position than when he took over the President's office.

I wondered when this would be coming. What do we rename to honor his legacy? The mark he has left on USD is immense. Campus has truly transformed under his leadership and consistently reached new highs.

I saw this coming as well. He did a great job for the university and I hope USD can find an ample successor.

Remember how much good old Betty Turner-Asher cared about Coyotes athletics. "Little to None" would be the best discription. Abbott is a loyal Yote through and though and it wouldn't surprise me at all provided he doesn't move far away that he will still show up and cheer on the Coyotes. He is a genuine good guy that will be missed around campus. Let's hope the new president has the same pride in Coyote Athletics as Jim did/does.

I took a class with Gottsleben and remember him mentioning that he believed she set Coyote athletics back 20 years. I could be wrong, but I think she required all track seniors to skip NCAA Nationals one year so they could attend commencement?

Let's not speak of her.
As far as I am concerned you can rename the school after President Abbott, he's done that much for this University. That's probably a bit much though. What should happen is that the USD Law school should remain in Vermillion and a new school built (or a complete renovation of the old building) and it should be renamed the Abbott School of Law. Since the naming rights of the Den are gone that's the only building/school I can think of that would be big enough for his name.
One thing I am confident of is that Pres Abbott will be involved in who is named his successor and I am sure he will leave USD in capable hands.

Law School is one of the few buildings that isn't named after someone. Abbott being a law alum makes that one a no brainer.

Great news for President Abbott to already be out of the hospital. It sounds like he took quick action to get to the ER so good for him as the quicker one gets help the better the outcome usually is.
