Well I messed up my estimation of no more then 1500 on the west bleachers so I apologize for that. I counted the seats as there are numbers on the seats that can be seen from the east side of the field. I counted 1648 unless I made an error in my math. The numbers on those bleachers do not give a lot of wiggle room for the fans that sit in them. That would make the total capacity 7588 which I think is still on the long side. Just reporting my results from Saturday. I certainly will sleep better tonight knowing that we have you on duty as attendance monitor. And to think that I spent last Saturday in the dome watching a football game...what could I have been thinking? Hey now, he has purchased at least one ticket since the team has proven itself to be a contender.

Coyote Fan has probably been to a game or two. Here's what Coyote Fan had to say in 2011: Here we are 6 years later, almost to the day, and USD is fielding a true national contender.

Coyote Fan has probably been to a game or two. Here's what Coyote Fan had to say in 2011: Here we are 6 years later, almost to the day, and USD is fielding a true national contender. Let me give you a general synopsis of the 3-4 years I've spent reading his posts: He'd either buy a ticket and make a huge deal out of it, or have conversations with himself on here during the game and then call for whichever head coach's job. He wasn't wrong that a contender could be built in Vermillion, but he did nothing to help make it happen. And if we are to really make USD a mainstay at the top of the FCS we need everyone to buy in. I'm very interested to see what the crowd looks like today and against Southern Illinois. We have to start packing the Dome on any given Saturday, not just for those D-Days and Dakota games. I've been working for years to drag people to the Dome with me and now they're actually excited to go watch the Yotes. Everyone needs to tell their friends, family, co-workers, mailmen, barbers, and anyone else that these Yotes will give you back your price of admission and then some. Today I will see an incredibly entertaining offense, in perfect weather, and get to tailgate to my heart's desire for just $20. You just can't beat that. Bring your friends, maybe they'll come back again on their own.

I was worried with the crappy weather and playing what we now consider a cup cake team that attendance would be low. After the dust settled during the game, i looked around and the dome was rocking! Way to go Coyote fans!!! This is a magical year that nobody is going to want to look back and regret missing 1 single game!!! This is going to be one of those years you carry with you forever!!!

We were happily surprised how many students showed up given post-D-Days hangover, lousy team, worst-1-day-event-in-SD happening, etc. They even stayed for the 2nd half pretty well given the game.

I realize the fan base is just learning how to act when trying to give the team a home field advantage. We are not there. Not close. Just standing up on third down only blocks the view of the people behind you. Yes we should stand but stand and make noise The Gold standard is NDSU. They make noise And alot of it the entire time the visitors have the ball. It’s so loud the visiting team has To go silent count the entire game. When we get to this level. The dome will then become sacred ground as the coach has said it should

I was pleasantly surprised by the crowd. The only noticeable empty spots were the bleachers way in the top corners, and the student section was decently full at kickoff. Stated attendance was 8.390. I'll take a 84% capacity crowd against a winless team any day.

I would take 4000 noisy fans over 10000 fans who make no noise when the opponent has the ball

We have a championship caliber team. We need the fans to do their job Given the crappy weather, the competition, and the idiot love fest going on in Brookings this weekend, I was very pleased with the turnout this weekend. It would have been pretty easy for people to stay home yesterday. Until we are fielding a championship quality team year in and year out consistently, I will be happy with a 3/4 full dome for a non-rivalry game against a team that we are heavily favored against.

I went ahead and did counting of my own. Here are the total number of tickets available in the grandstand: A: 222 B: 718 C: 765 D: 704 E: 620 F: 704 G: 764 H: 714 I: 60 TOTAL: 5271 Student section, I would guess, is in the neighborhood of 2000. There are 10 booths up top with the media sitting in front of them. I don't know that the media/production crew should count, but let's be generous and call that area 150 people. I believe the Dome Club holds about 300 people. The Coyote Landing probably holds like 200 people. That's a total of 7,921. I'll be generous and call it 8,000. Someone please point out where these numbers are flawed. The Dome doesn't actually hold 10,000 fans.

I guess there are two types of fan support. The first is to get people to show up. That is what you are talking about. This is important for generating revenue and getting people interested. The second type of fan support is actually chearing/getting loud. That is what I’m talking about. I maintain just being there as a fan dosnt make it more difficult for the opponent to operate on offense being there AND being loud does. For this reason we do not take full advantage of playing at home

For this reason we do not take full advantage of playing at home I agree that we need more fan engagement but it's a process. Not very long ago, a game like yesterday would have had 4K attendance, tops. Get people there, make it fun for them, they get invested in the program, then you have passionate fans.
