I have young kids. I know these things, unfortunately. You know who Peppa and George are? Yeah, I've said to much now. Mine are all way grown and I haven't seen it since the 80s so I guess my memory failed me. Will be cycling grandkids soon to help set the refresh. Peppa and George?

USD has recently changed their tailgate rules. Knowing that a lot of you are Alum and frequent tailgaters...
What are your thoughts on the student tailgating situation? Will this change the gameday atmosphere? Are there any ideas to make a better gameday?

I wish the students would have some respect and clean up after themselves. It's embarrassing to see their aftermath. That's the only complaint I've ever had about the student tailgate.
I missed D Days. I don't know what the students did over D Days to make it so that they couldn't have vehicles at the tailgate against Indiana State. Listening to your link it sounds like a vehicle was brutally vandalized (there's a mention of a cab being smashed...something about a keg...officers injured by flying bottles). If the students can't behave themselves they don't deserve their own tailgate. You can get belligerently drunk without impeding on others. That's really all I care about. Have fun and don't be a dick.
For reference, I'm 26 and earned my Bachelor's in 2014. I am young enough to have participated in the student tailgates but even back then I felt too old for it and the student section. My opinion, just have the students integrate with tailgating at large. You can still have a large congregation if you'd like, but to isolate all the students is a recipe for behavior that will upset the university. It also gives the great opportunity for students to make connections with alumni.

Link from the CoyoteNews live coverage is below: www.facebook.com/CoyoteNews/videos/10155222992768471/ Since I don't tailgate I would be the wrong person to comment on that. I will say that there has been a lot of improvement to the overall experience outside the dome. When I walk by the tailgate area I see many Coyote flags and people all gathered in the same area having a good time. It gets the hype meter turned up a bit. I really like to hear the band marching and playing anytime they get a chance. Sound of USD = great for game day atmosphere. I just wish in their pre game show that they would add the song they used to play directly after the school song but before the Magnificent Seven. I don't know the name of it but it is kind of a triumphant song that they used to play back in 2014 and prior. The best game day experience is walking out of that dome after a Coyote victory. Nothing can take the place of that in my mind. The next thing for me is having the best view of the field possible. This isn't something a council can help with but when they build the west side grand stand make it steep. If anyone has ever watched a game at Minnesota State University you will know what a mean. That was my favorite opposing stadium to watch a game because the view was so good.

Anyone have the cliff notes version of what happened at the open forum?
I tailgate over this west grass lost and always have a good time. They are now making the RV's park way out in the boonies for some reason, which is a disappointing, because if you bring a RV to a tailgate, generally you are throwing a party. It would be nice to have them back in with us regular vehicle folks. Maybe spring for a paid spot next year???

They make the RV's park in the middle of nowhere, absolutely stupid!

it is very disappointing I don't know why they need to keep making little changes every year the only thing they need to keep in mind is the more together a tailgate crowd is the more fun and exciting it is and when people see a crowd having a good time they will want to participate. also the idea of shoving the people with trailers and pull behind cookers to the north end of the grass out of site and away from activity is just watering things down our crew did not tailgate the second home game because of that alone lets find a way to get everyone together excitement breeds excitement

The parking attendants said it was because "they didn't want them on the grass" I argued with about what was the difference of the two grasses.

I like how the Admin has stepped up and supported the student tailgate this year trying to get more students involved... Looks like they are giving them the entire parking lot south of the basketball arena.

Not the parking lot, the grassy area.

Not the parking lot, the grassy area. Correct. I guess this will keep the shenanigans slightly hidden? A bigger area might lead to them spreading out, easier to monitor that than the hornet nest.
