Wow. I really hope we live up to expectations here. Having a team with nothing to lose coming into the dome scares me a little bit. I trust Bob and his staff have stressed the importance of not looking past this team.

With a win the team will:
Clinch the program's first winning season against D1 competition. Match our mark for most MVFC wins in a season. Have enough wins to, historically, warrant a playoff berth out of the MVFC, the first in program history.
All this coming without taking any losses. The corner has been turned in a big way this season.

None of these should be goals this team is striving for at this point in time.

You have a point with WIU, though their resume was lackluster last year, we may have to go 4-4 in conference. I honestly believe the Yotes already have a good enough resume for the playoffs after a win on Saturday though. Better just win the conference and leave nothing up to chance.

It wasn't long ago that road losing streaks, transition from D2/GW-MVFC, and how hard it was to get recruits to Vermillion dominated the conversations/headlines. Now we are favored by 4 TD's in the mighty MVFC.

Prediction time
I am not very worried about this game at all. The Coyotes are too new to this level of success to even consider taking the Sycamores lightly. Last year the Yotes won in OT against this team. Indiana State is enough of a threat that I don't want to hear "lets work on this or that". This is not the game to experiment with the team. That was meant for Drake. The Coyotes need to come out and attack every weakness that that ISU has and do it big time. I believe I heard that ISU is a team that is pretty good against the run. Sounds good to me. Lets have Streveler pass for 350 yards and 5 touchdowns and then we can work on that running game just a bit.
I only have one key to this game and that is put the Coyote Machine on over drive like every other game this year. I am going to predict 48-10 Coyotes and I may be generous to Indiana State by allowing them 10 points and the Coyotes only 48. The game that worries me is the game at Illinois State next week. I think ISUr is being over looked because I still think they are a good football team.

I honestly believe the Yotes already have a good enough resume for the playoffs after a win on Saturday though. Better just win the conference and leave nothing up to chance. Not quite yet. If the Coyotes lost the rest of their games they would be 5-6 and 2-6 in the MVFC which would not give the Coyotes a playoff spot. I believe 7 wins is the number that would in essence clinch a play off birth. 6 wins and it is 50/50 especially considering that they would have had to lose 5 of the last 6 going coming home. edit: Sorry I didn't read close enough as you assumed the resume after this Saturday assuming a win. I think that might be enough but I wouldn't want to hitch my wagon to 6 wins being enough. At this point I look at it two ways. First of all there is nothing wrong with this fan base or team celebrating the goal of just making the playoffs because most would have been happy with that pre-season and the team has never made the FCS playoffs. Goals get adjusted and they should be adjusted as the season goes on. Now is the time to strive for a top 8 seed and maybe top 4 if the Coyotes go 10-1. There is not one team in the FCS that would come into the dome and be considered definite favorites at this point. The only two teams that might cause an even spread would be James Madison or NDSU but that is assuming the team where it is today. The Coyotes need to play for as much home field advantage in the playoffs as possible. If the goal is to make the playoffs it is better to cheer for NDSU this week. If the goal is a top 8 seed or better then everyone should be cheering for Youngstown. I know who I am cheering for and they like igloos quite a bit.

I also think IL State is going to be a dog fight and, personally, think it's going to be a harder game than SDSU. We're going to make a statement with SDSU this year.
