I think it just might kill their fans to acknowledge USD has put together a better team. Their budget is far larger, and they've piled on us as not deserving of an MVFC invite. Must sting to see USD as a top 5 team coming to the UNI Dome while their backs are against the wall. Hold on a second. I’ve been told UNI was the school with a level head and called the last minute meeting of the MVFC after UND went Big Sky and didn’t want to lose a second Dakota school and all voted us in except XDSU’s abstained from the vote. I've never heard that, could be true. I'm just talking about the fans I've been exposed to online.

I think you received bad information. It's hard to find information in a quick internet search, on events that occurred seven years ago but below I've pasted a link from an Argus Leader story from 11/5/2010 (picked up by a different website). This particular article includes the following: "Sayler and Abbott told Viverito that she had until 5 p.m. Tuesday to deliver on what she’d said was possible – a unanimous agreement from athletic directors and university presidents that extending an offer to USD was the right thing to do." It's been a long time since I've read someone suggesting the XDSUs either voted against USD or, as suggested by easmus, declined to vote. That's incorrect. I recall reading some of the background developments when it was current news - 2010 -- that stated the MVFC coaches representing schools also in the Summit League (that'd be NDSU and SDSU) initially led the charge to get USD into the MVFC to not only benefit MVFC but to keep USD in the Summit League rather than losing USD in all sports to the Big Sky. [Now, think about this: the same spirit of good will apparently did not apply to UND. I do not have any facts on why that happened but if I had to guess.... ] The football coaches got to the ADs and the ADs got to the conference Presidents. Its the Presidents who ultimately call the shots and Commissioner Viverito carried the message. USD Pres. Abbott required the invite to be in writing by a certain time and that was done. coachad.com/news/u-of-south-dakota-football-joining-missouri-valley-conference/[Somewhere I had saved electronic copies of various news reports etc. when USD was invited. It was very interesting news at the time...all came together very quickly. I think UND and the Big Sky felt a little betrayed but I think it was the obvious and best decision for the Summit, the MVFC and USD. USD's ascendancy in Football and basketball along with its continued success in other sports like track and field etc., proved the decision was right for all involved. I got a note from a friend about the easmus statement, asking "don't you have some info that shows that statement is incorrect?" So, the above is my two-cents worth and now I'm outa here before I get a lecture from CF.]

But you're right, nonetheless. Without reading the article you posted (so this may have been covered in there already), I believe Vivereto and AD's in MVFC assumed USD/UND was a packaged deal. When they found out that was not the case, they went after USD (thankfully so).

Did anyone check to see if weather was going to be an issue in the UniDome?

It's Gamedy and time to get fired up. My sense of this game is that the fan base energy level at UNI is not real high. If we come out and punch them in the mouth early, we could take the air out of that place in a hurry. Negative energy for them would be like positive energy for us. I have to believe our kids are focused andthe staff has turned the "negative'" team issue we have into a positive. If the skill level at the D Backs for the kids replacing our starters is adequate, I'm extremely confident they will get coached up and pay their butts off...much like last week.
In my mind this game is HUGE. We win, then we probably knock them out of the playoffs. If SDSU wins today, and we win out, and NDSU wins in 2 weeks at Illinois State, we are hoisting the trophy over our heads. Simply put, we control our destiny.
I'm so pumped for this game.....gonna load up the pickup and head east in a short time. If you can't be there, get it on espn3 or listen to the radio. We need the karma to get this done. Time to go to 8-1.

We’ve got to get better in the red zone and on short yardage. I guess we don’t have QB sneak in the playbook
