Totally agree Tator. I’m ok with this if it happened.

Current projections by Hero Sports of where the playoff projections are if the season were to end today. The road to the national championship seems much better on this path... So is this predicting that we go 0-2 over the next 2 weeks? Would NDSU be a 3 seed even if we beat them? And no way would sdsu be ahead of us if we won on 11/18. So this might show USD a worse case scenario. My question is...If given the choice to take this bracket right now or wait and see what happens over the next 2 weeks (anywhere from possibly going 2-0 and a top 8 seed or 0-2 and miss the post season completely) which would you take?

It's just a projection of what the seeding would look like IF the season were to end today. They are not taking into account that there are still 2 weeks left of football to play.

I would wait and see what happens. I am confident we are going to win 1 out of the next 2 or both and then we should be a top 8 seed.

That would be interesting. The Coyotes against Sam Houston State would be an intriguing game with the way both teams can move the ball. It would be a made for TV game.

I would love that bracket, with the Valley teams spread out. Won't happen IMO. Look at the history of the Jacks/Bison getting clustered in the past. I don't think Herosports looked very hard at the geography part of the committee's "tendencies".

If we don't get a seed then I would gladly take our 2nd round game being against Sam Houston State. James Madison and the MVFC are who I would want to avoid.

That the committee still has us at #9 has me certain we have already clinched a playoff spot. We might even have an outside shot at a seed with one win in the final two games (guaranteed with two wins).

Looks like everyone is hibernating in the Coyote Den tonight but it is not quite the end of the world just yet. There is a senario that can still kind of save the season but it would involve a win next week. To me if the Coyotes lose to the Jacks and finish the season 1-4 the rest of the season is pretty irrelevant to me but if they can get it together and win here is how things could play out.
Missouri State losses at Youngstown NDSU wins at Illinois State S. Illinois loses at W Illinois SDSU loses at USD Indiana State loses at UNI
In this case here is how the Valley looks
NDSU 10-1 (6-1) USD 8-3 (5-3) SDSU 8-3 (5-3) WIU 8-3 (5-3) UNI 7-4 (6-2) ISUr 6-5 (4-4)
No one else is in serious consideration
Of the 8-3 teams in the Valley the Coyotes would have beaten both of them head to head. They would have a win over a FBS which the committee loves and they would be 2-3 in their last 5 instead of 1-4 which is a big difference. The Coyotes would have no bad losses and no home losses. I don't think UNI would pass them as I believe the Coyotes SOS would be good enough to keep them over UNI.
I will never trust the judgement of a selection committee because the Coyotes always get screwed by them but if you look at the criteria and look at the resume the Coyotes make a good case to still be a seed. I wouldn't count on it but the Coyotes would still be in the discussion. The MVFC is by far the toughest conference by the computers and not having two seeded teams would be an injustice to this conference.
If the Coyotes lose to the Jacks then they very well miss out all together and in that senario I would have no argument. The Coyotes have the dome to help them and they need to have more soul searching sessions than they do simple practices but there is still hope for the optimists.

If we win against SDSU we are 100% locked into the playoffs. I want to look at our scenario if we fail to take care of business in the Dome for the 1st time this year. Here are the other games and what I feel the most likely result is:
NDSU at Illinois State Missouri State at Youngstown State Southern Illinois at Western Illinois Indiana State at Northern Iowa
That makes the standings as follows:
NDSU 7-1, 10-1 UNI 6-2, 7-4 SDSU 6-2, 9-2 WIU 5-3, 8-3 USD 4-4, 7-4 Illinois State 4-4, 6-5 YSU 4-4, 6-5 MSU 2-6, 3-8 SIU 2-6, 4-7 Indiana State 0-8, 0-11
6-win teams have made the playoffs out of the MVFC (with 4-4 conference records) each of the past two years. The last time a 7-win MVFC team was left out they were the 6th place team and it was a 12 game schedule. Closing out the season with three losses in a row would not be a good look, but at least they'd be against the top 3 teams in the standings. My guess is we are in the playoffs unless we get embarrassed in the finale.

I believe Tom Nieman pointed out about a week ago that there were already around 24 7 win teams in FCS. I truly believe if NDSU beats Illinois State we would be the 5th and final team to get in if the other games play out like they should. If memory serves me correctly, when the redbirds got in as a 6-5 team they had an FBS win over Northwestern in their back pocket along with a strong finish and at least 4 wins in the conference. We have a lesser FBS win in our resume, but FBS win nonetheless. 4 wins in conference and a road win at Western Illinois. Redbirds beat NDSU and we lose, we won’t get in.
