There is no logical conclusion that I can think of that has the Coyotes winning in Brookings. Usually the Jacks tend to get better as the season goes on and the Yotes regress. The game is in mid November in a place that the Coyotes don't win in. A spread offense in an outdoor game at a team that has consistently beaten the Coyotes and has consistently been better than the Coyotes. The cool aid has to be awfully red to pick this one as a win. My logic is you always pick your team to beat the rival if there is a reasonable chance they can do so. If we were coming off a terrible season with few returning starters and had to go to Brookings I'd say no way we win, but that is not the case.

CF - I’m not trying to be combative, but your quote: “There is no logical conclusion that I can think of that has the Coyotes winning in Brookings.” makes no objective sense. I gave you the hard facts of last years game. SDSU offense will not be even close to this past years team and the punishment we inflicted on them via the ground game should only improve this season. Stop living in the past when the yotes couldn’t/didn’t compete. Last year’s results were not an aberration, but the start of a great program. Not a feeling, but a fact based on results, coaching and recruiting.

howling Yote i want you to be right i really do. You can say all you want about the past being the past but presently SDSU is the better team until proven otherwise and close game or not they still won in Vermillion where the Coyotes had every advantage and played in an environment condusive to their style. The Yotes are still quite a bit better at home. If you flip the script and put the game in a likely cold environment outside that is an element that will typically favor the Jacks I don't logically see how you would expect a result more favorable for the Coyotes. I try to take as unbiased of an approach as possible. You won't find many MVFC fans outside of South Dakota that would forecast a Coyote win.

The Jacks have a more finesse/pass happy offense, the Coyotes might run out of a spread formation, but they run the ball right at the defense with blunt force trauma. It's power football. I don't understand how you can say that cold weather would adversely effect the power running offense.

I've really been anticipating watching this guy and seeing what he can do for the Coyotes. I saw him play in the Nebraska high school championships a few years back and he was just totally beast mode. I was thrilled when we signed him and think he's capable of big things.

If Jake could stay healthy he has the potential to be as good as Wessel or better. He is athletic, fast and smart. In watching these past 2 years our depth at the Will LB position has been lacking. I am looking forward to watching him in the spring game...along with some others of course!

I've had it in my mind for some time now that the team is going to surprise right off the bat at Kansas State. Although I still see it, I also think a win at KS isn't necessarily going to point to us being road graders early. Contrary, I think your going to see a year where the team is more consistent and continually getting better each week and peaking at the end of the season. All signs point to it and that's the path that takes them deep into the playoffs. The Coyotes are maturing and that's the natural next step. FCS always gives FBS teams their best shot so I have a win at KS early but an improving, more consistent team that peaks at the right time the rest of the year...that may well mean a team that's good enough, with the 12th man, to take down NDSU at home! Tailgating at NDSU is awesome but the game experience for opposing fans sucks as they put us way up in the rafters (and didn't let me roam). It's time for some payback Verm!!! I saw the post about the trend in college football for the student sections coming early and leaving. I think that's more of a trend for stagnant teams where the games predictable... (yes, even NDSU is stagnant because they're predictable)... whereas the Coyotes are a team on the rise and that student section is going to rally and be an important part of an great season this year.

Usdyotes the DB’s playing the majority of the game we’re back ups with no experience! They were redshirts just out there getting experience.

Virtually every one of his posts, what few there are, has been bashing our players, and for some reason he has a particular grudge against Simmons. Defense was in base package all night but he's probably too uninformed to notice something like that.

The bottom line no excuse for a DB to stand there and let a receiver run right by him and not move. Base defense or not!!. As for Simmons he did ok as I stated didn't bash him one bit so I have no idea what your talking about. The team was at best average looking. Base defense or not these teams we play will throw the ball vertical and if they stand their or not look for a ball no matter what D your in you are finished. So troll on that!!!!!
