I would hope to hear a lawyers opinion on the fact that it took 4 weeks or so for this to come out. Is it really a conspiracy theory or a cover up if it isn't disclosed immediately by the school, Police department or individual? Wouldn't there need to be some insight into WHY it took 4 weeks (vs. just the simple fact that it did). Not sure who would do the work to find out how the highest-profile-arrest in Brookings in years (decades?) can stay out of the paper/police blotter/people at the Cop Shop mentioning it to their buddies/etc. But no one whose job it is (area reporters) to look in to these things will touch it - not unlike the suspension/non-suspension timing from the past couple seasons. (And I don't blame those reporters, BTW, I wouldn't touch it if I was them.)

I would guess that nearly every DUI does not hit the papers until after the court appearance and the sentence is handed down. Do not be surprised if it is a suspended imposition if he has the chance many first time offenders are afforded. That is normal of course and most of us like to have information sooner in a "high" profile case. I would guess Stig is being treated more normally than abnormally at this time. Meanwhile the speculation of "special" treatment can be raised and more theories will jump up. Enjoy the SLT in the interim.

One obligatory article in the Argus last week and then squat. I would think this would be a big story, but it seems all the media is sure doing their best to keep a lid on it. Certainly no investigative journalism taking place. I've known a few fairly established high school teachers, coaches and administrators who've lost jobs over DUIs, but I guess they had higher behavioral standards and expectations. Not my opinion he should lose his job, everyone makes mistakes, but there should at least factual accountability of the incident for one of the highest paid public employees in the state.

Now that the SLT is over, time for the media to start doing their dang jobs and investigate what the REAL story is behind the Stig DUI cover-up. Was he drinking wine or was he drinking JOOSE? Why did it take so long for the story to break when any other person arrested for DUI would've had their name in the paper the following morning? Did he or did he not take a breathalyzer? What was his BAC at the time of the arrest?
The biggest question of all: Was he really doing his own taxes? How much is he paying in or getting back. Guessing the IRS would be interested to know he was drunk and filing his tax forms. Maybe they'll investigate...?

Maybe we are being too judgmental about him changing the story from Joose to wine. I mean, it's certainly possible that he couldn't remember whether he drank a Joose, a 4-Loco, or one of the many fine wines in his fridge:

I'm sure more details will come out later this week just in time to be buried by sdsu's Selection Sunday bids....

Ripple. Wow, nice blast from the past. I don't think the kids know about that one. I've only had the first three (never more than once). Gotta try everything in college. I found that image by googling "bum wines" BTW.

Stig was supposed to have court last Tuesday. Nothing whatsoever in the media. Anyone heard anything?

Stig was supposed to have court last Tuesday. Nothing whatsoever in the media. Anyone heard anything? Without really knowing anything, it is very possible it just got continued. Usually tends to be the case while waiting for blood results in Pierre (they can take a while).

Rumor has it he plead guilty with no one around and his attorney got it immediately sealed so no one can see anything about it. You can't normally do that, and I'm sure it's not standard procedure, but everyone wants to keep the details of that quiet. Normally if you get a suspended imp you are on conditions for at least a year and things won't get sealed until you are off conditions, but if they don't give you anything other than a fine then you could get it sealed immediately. I hear his attorney was fighting hard for that because he didn't want the details to get out, like how high his BAC was and that he was drinking Joose. Take it to the bank, you won't hear about another court date.

KELO is all bunnies, all the time... wouldn't expect Angela Kennecke to look into this unless it was a Yote coach.

That's fine. The cover-up is always worse than the crime. Sealed records, self-imposed penalties, it's all one big joke. For all those involved, their true colors have been revealed. Stig is a hypocrite who has lost the moral high ground.
