I just saw on another board that Texas Tech will announce their new coach within the next 48 hours or so. The lead candidate in this search, Joe Foley, is reportedly still thinking about it, and the second candidate in line is Johnston from South Dakota State.

Looks like the site that broke that news, theraiderland.com, has been hacked. Here's another fan board, at 247Sports: 247sports.com/college/texas-tech/Board/102953/Contents/Expect-Joe-Foley-to-be-named-HC-soon-116748050Sounds like TT is a place that values women's bb, and tend to pay their WBB coaches well.

It's so weird that AJ keeps getting passed over for all these jobs. Wabbit posters usually try to always say it's because he's a man but here he is getting beat out by another man for a job yet again.
Must not interview well or something. He is obviously getting looks and open to leaving.

Per Texas Tech message board Joe Foley is staying at Little Rock. Earlier reports mentioned AJ as next in line after Foley. Hmmm

Good catch on this story, Hoopsmom! I'm surprised the local media hasn't picked up on it. If A.J. takes it, that would be pretty big news. The guy has been in SD forever.

For AJ, it may be Close but no cigar.

You're kidding, right? I strongly doubt Zimmer would report anything that even remotely resembled a perceived negative for SDSU.

I slipped over to the Bunny Board quick, there is absolutely zero talk about AJ leaving. Where is this all coming from?

His name is mentioned several times on the Texas Tech boards. One stated he was the fallback plan if the Little Rock guy fell through.

The original source (as far as I know) of these rumors is back online after a day of site-hacking. Here's an update from today. I have no idea what this guy's sources are. He could be just pulling things out of ... you know.

With all the opportunities he could have been considered for over the years Texas Tech would be a very odd job to leave for. Perhaps frustrated by the ceiling?

I thought Utah State was an odd job to leave for until I saw the dollars involved. With some of the powerhouse programs such as Texas and Baylor a coach would be going up against in the Big12, I would imagine even bigger dollars would be involved. Amy sure didn't do too bad for herself going to a power 5 conference.

I am pretty sure Texas Tech is in the Big 12 so that would be moving to a power 5 job. Look how good TCU is and they would have to be considered rivals with them. That would be a much larger slam dunk for A.J. than Smith leaving for Utah State.

Why now and why Texas Tech? Why not Iowa or Wisconsin or something? (assuming they've opened up at some point in the last several years)
