Not glowingly at all. Just realistically. Yotes should check in on Pitts.

I saw that. The Yotes should still check in on her.

Destiny Pitts, former guard for the Gophers, who recently announced her transfer plans after Whalen suspended her indefinitely for poor body language. She was fifth in the Big Ten in scoring, averaging 16.3 points, 4.8 rebounds, and 3.3 assists per game while shooting 40 percent from the field and 46 percent from 3. The 5-foot-11 Detroit native was a first-team All-Big Ten selection last season. Obviously is a physically skilled basketball players and worth the Yote coaching staff checking out. The "poor body language" is definitely a concern and she could just be the Pitts on team chemistry.

The "poor body language" is definitely a concern and she could just be the Pitts on team chemistry. To be fair to Whalen, the "poor body language" was listed by Pitts herself on social media (which is a whole separate discussion). The coach has not commented publicly on the reasons for the suspension, or anything leading up to it. So it's hard to really know what happened, or who is ultimately to blame. There were some nasty words exchanged between them publicly at the Northwestern game, apparently. So either Whalen is out of her depth as a coach, or Pitts has a problem with authority, but I'd guess the answer is somewhere in the middle? Either way, the Gophers WBB team looks to have some issues this year. It would be a hard pass for me bringing in a chemistry wildcard like that, regardless of how many points she scores.

The chances that it’s a mutual fit are remote. But there seem to me to be mutual benefits if that long shot were to hit. I think the U would have some real things to sell her and she’s seen the Yotes and staff up close in a couple of preseason scrimmages the past couple seasons. Obviously there are also disadvantages that the Yotes would face.
It might be a real quick check, there may be no interest either way, but I’d still check. I’m sure with Plitzuweit’s and Horn’s connections in Pitts’ home region it wouldn’t take much.

I would take a hard pass on Pitts...great player but this program isn't just about that. What makes this program special and sets them apart is the quality of the individuals that make up the team. Intelligence, high character, team-first mentality and work ethic aren't traits every good player has.
