I think front-loading is advantageous for basketball because you play so many games. You might get roughed up at the beginning but it gives you a chance to find your weaknesses and improve on them the rest of the year. I think confidence/momentum is more important in football, mainly because of the amount of games, so I think a back-heavy schedule can be more favorable. Iron sharpens iron.
