It's like they were asleep for a game and a half and now the team we know is back and ready to play. At least on offense. Defense has looked strong even through the dire straits. Just forced another turnover on downs!

Huge stop there for the D. Offense needs to come out and put this game to bed.

We weren't really able to take much time off the clock or dig out of the shadow of our endzone.

Serves the QB right for trying to run us over instead of just going out of bounds.

Serves the QB right for trying to run us over instead of just going out of bounds. Yeah, that was just dumb. He looked like he might be concussed afterwards too. Wonder if he will even come back to finish this one.

Great game. Good struggle for supremacy first hash and put them away handily in the second.

Yotes recover onside kick. I'd say that just about does it. Heading into D-Days 1-0 in the Valley.

Great second half to get the team on track heading back home for DDays. Time to Defend the Dome!

A win on the road is a win and doesn’t come with style points but my word can we please clean up the penalties, piss poor blocking from OL, and maybe use the play clock when we have a lead?

All I can say is hats off to this coaching staff for making the necessary adjustments at halftime! Great win on the road!

Drive chart: We had 4 consecutive drives on offense totaling 24 points, and then a lot of garbage. The only production we got outside of this 4 drive sequence was the 9-yard drive off an INT for a TD, and one long isolated run from Klett early on. The team has absolutely got to figure out how to be more consistent on offense. It looks like we only had 3 first downs outside of that one small stretch. Pretty sure the bulk of our problems stem from the o-line. We've managed to make things work a few times this year though and need to capture that. Defense looked very good again tonight. This type of performance on the road, against a high flying offense, while dealing with an offense that keeps you out there the whole game, and several drives starting in your own territory or close to it, is very impressive. They settled in after surrendering an early TD drive, then got put into a bad situation where SIU started in our red zone to make it 14-7, but basically kept them in check afterwards outside of the drive ending the 1st half for a FG and the one at the very end of the game to make it 31-24. I thought pass coverage was especially impressive. SIU threw the ball 61 times but never was really able to complete much downfield. It was hard to ever really see our DBs on the feed but I think Collins is really coming along and we've gotten way more out of Tisdale than we should ever expect from a true freshman. This side of the ball continues to impress me in the face of adversity. We finally escaped Carbondale with a win, doesn't matter if it was an ugly one. I can see a path to Yoteforever's 6-2 mark he believes the team can achieve. It's up to our staff to keep addressing our issues and make it a reality. Also need to protect the Dome. Bring the noise against a surprisingly difficult looking Missouri State team! Go Yotes!

Hats off to the SIU punter, part of the reason for those 3 & outs were because we were starting from inside our own 5 on seemingly every second half possession. It's hard to move the chains when you have to run the predictable plays to stay out of your own endzone. Saw enough flashes today to convince me that we could still be in for a really good year if we can put things together for a full game
