with only 7 votes in, there is a clear favorite... I've always liked "The Den" as well, but I remember some poster(s) saying it couldn't be a nickname for the SCSC because it belonged to the old Volleyball court.... Somehow I don't think the Volleyball team would mind at this point. The old "Den" will be demolished this year. Call me a homer, but I don't think you are giving WCTBASOWEFWMB a fair shot... Or WTF for short?

You have a name for the court whether you derive Abbot, Collette, or Jim. It can lock a bit of history in the moniker.

After thinking about this awhile, I prefer "Den" but like Denny or even, yes, Sanford (sports center) almost as well since the guy has given organizations in this state nearly a billion dollars over the years - after all, we are South Dakota. Mr. Sanford will likely be long gone before we see the end of sporting contests in the building but it could remain a testament to his legacy.
All things being equal, for some reason I like the term "Charlie", going back to our mascot Charlie the coyote (state animal) but I don't think it would resonate...
Of course, terms like the "old Armory" which was called the women's gym in my time (where many years before, we played big ten teams) and the "new Armory" are safely out of the picture. I might say, though, the new Armory was really a pit of destruction for any visiting team.

..... a pit of destruction for any visiting team. Good suggestion. I like “The Pit of Destruction”. J/K

After reading your post it would also pay homage to the major donor. I also like "The Abbott" for obvious reasons.

The Den is good, but is too similar to The Denny in Sioux Falls. Gotta clarify and call it the Coyote Den.

Sounds like a place where The Toddfather and the GOAT might smoke Cubans and sip scotch. Also there would be mahogany and leather-bound books. Possibly a globe or a stuffed bird of prey.

Whatever nickname the Arena eventually gets (if any), we will need more frequent pressure-cooker atmospheres like Sunday to earn it. With the low ceiling it WAS kind of a pressure cooker... ...I wonder what pressure-fried rabbit tastes like? I bet it's good.

Maybe they could add that to the menu for the next time the bunnies are in Vermillion... Rabbit chislic on a stick...

Rabbit Stew is doable, and would be easy to distribute. Just use those soup/chili warmers... I have no idea what rabbit costs, but that would be cool at a tailgate, at least.

I think the students or student-athletes have come up with a good nickname....
"...another dub here in the Scuh-Scuh..."
I don't know if that's a Tay-Fred original or not, but I like it.

Take the Sanford Pentagon, for example. [...] There is no parking in the front of the building. No drop off there either... if I want to drop my elderly father off at the front door that just isn't an option... at least provide a drop-off. JMO Just wanted to dig up this post from 10 months ago. Please note that the Pentagon has recently added a drop-off to the front of the building.... You're welcome, Sioux Falls.
