Nice! They’ve really improved this year. It was just a Matter of time before their work paid off. Great stuff!

March 4 Update: Massey rankings, (record), SOS, [preseason poll rank]: 63 NDSU--(9-8)#35----[1] 85 SDSU-(10-4)#207---[2]^ 128 USD-(13-7)#238---[4]167 UND-(9-10)#183--[6]^^ 200 WIU--(4-7)#204---[3]\/ 225 PFW--(4-8)#208---[7]\/ 235 UNO-(2-13)#60----[5]^ March 11 Update: Massey rankings, (record), SOS, [preseason poll rank]: 59 SDSU-(19-5)#224---[2]^^ 76 NDSU(11-11)#45----[1]\/ 132 USD(16-12)#202---[4]176 WIU---(7-9)#186---[3]^^ 181 UND(11-14)#180---[6]\/ 216 PFW---(5-9)#210---[7]^ 256 UNO--(2-18)#60----[5]\/ The season's still early, but the Jacks are looking consistent, and despite being ranked below them, the Bison have only lost to top-100 teams. They are a solid #1 in the league, IMO. The Yotes get a couple of upset wins over the weekend vs Michigan and NMSU, and are chugging along as the third team.

March 11 Update: Massey rankings, (record), SOS, [preseason poll rank]: 59 SDSU-(19-5)#224---[2]^^ 76 NDSU(11-11)#45----[1]\/ 132 USD(16-12)#202---[4]176 WIU---(7-9)#186---[3]^^ 181 UND(11-14)#180---[6]\/ 216 PFW---(5-9)#210---[7]^ 256 UNO--(2-18)#60----[5]\/ March 26 Update: Massey rankings, (record), SOS, [preseason poll rank]: 49 NDSU(21-11)#68----[1]^^ 65 SDSU-(24-7)#220---[2] 143 USD(19-16)#189---[4]\/179 UND(15-20)#153---[6] 211 WIU--(7-14)#158---[3]\/\/ 240 PFW--(5-19)#136---[7]\/ 272 UNO--(2-27)#88----[5]\/ The biggest gap is still between the XDSUs and the rest of the conference, but the bottom three teams are pretty bad. Western and Omaha have under-performed expectations heavily. USD and UND look to be playing at a similar level, so when we play them in mid-April the outcome will have seeding implications.

The Yotes are now 5-1 in conference play after a three-game sweep of the Dons this weekend (all shutouts). Will be playing @ Iowa State tomorrow, and host Creighton on Wednesday.

I'm a few days late and a dollar short on this, but thought I'd post it anyway:
Pretty amazing how many of these POW awards the Yotes have been getting. I just hope we can knock off the XDSU teams in the playoff. That would be an epic season.

April 1 Update: Massey rankings, (record), SOS, [preseason poll rank]: 47 NDSU(25-11)#91----[1] 63 SDSU-(24-7)#221---[2] 132 USD(22-17)#201---[4]^177 UND(17-23)#157---[6] 197 WIU--(8-18)#120---[3]^ 263 PFW--(5-24)#153---[7]\/ 269 UNO--(3-29)#107---[5] April 10 Update: Massey rankings, (record),(conf.), [conf. rank]: 41 NDSU-(28-11)(6-0)--[1] 90 SDSU-(25-10)(4-2)--[3]\/\/ 127 USD-(25-18)(8-1)--[2]176 WIU-(10-18)(3-6)--[5]^ 188 UND-(19-24)(4-2)--[3]\/ 264 PFW--(6-27)(1-8)--[6] 273 UNO--(3-33)(1-8)--[6] (I changed the stats to current conference record and standing...) NDSU is still dominating, SDSU has dropped a bit after going 1-3 in April so far(lost twice to WIU). USD holding steady, and is sitting at 2nd in the conference standings. WIU and UND traded places again, and the rest still suck. Definitely seeing three tiers. Just a question of whether USD or SDSU belong in the top or the middle tier. We will see soon enough.

April 10 Update: Massey rankings, (record),(conf.), [conf. rank]: 41 NDSU-(28-11)(6-0)--[1] 90 SDSU-(25-10)(4-2)--[3]\/\/ 127 USD-(25-18)(8-1)--[2]176 WIU-(10-18)(3-6)--[5]^ 188 UND-(19-24)(4-2)--[3]\/ 264 PFW--(6-27)(1-8)--[6] 273 UNO--(3-33)(1-8)--[6] April 15 Update: Massey rank, (record),(conf.), [conf. rank]: 37 NDSU-(30-11)(8-0)--[1] 98 SDSU-(25-12)(4-4)--[3] 116 USD-(28-18)(11-1)-[2]^172 WIU-(11-19)(3-6)--[5] 196 UND-(19-27)(4-5)--[4] 259 PFW--(8-29)(3-9)--[6] 274 UNO--(4-35)(2-10)-[7] Things haven't changed much in the Massey rankings or the standings. The Bison still lead, and are undefeated in conference play. The Jacks and Yotes are solidly in the 2&3 seed spots. In the Summit, finishing 2nd is significant because in the 6-team playoff there are two BYEs. The Yotes look to have the advantage with their conference record: 11-1 vs 4-4! Keep in mind, however, that we haven't yet played NDSU or SDSU. It's closer than it looks. The Jacks complete their series with the Bison today, and we play a series (at home) vs the Bison this Friday and Saturday. Things will come into focus after that for the top 3 seeds. We even have a chance to be in first after this weekend!

The Yotes play a double-header vs the UMKC Roos tomorrow afternoon at home. Our girls are on a 6-game win streak, and a 9-game conference win streak, having swept our last three opponents!
Friday and Saturday vs NDSU end the home schedule, so last chance to see them in Vermillion. We close out the conference schedule in Brookings in early May (two weeks away).

Another thing to mention is that the Coyotes could be in for some "firsts" this season, just like the Volleyball and Women's Basketball teams:
The Yotes were never much of a factor in the NCC, finishing 2nd in their first year of competition in 1981, then never finishing higher than 5th for the rest of their time there. In 2008 (final season in NCC) they finished 4th.
They had a decent record in the Great West, but never won that conference. I can't find the conference W/L records for that time-frame. Would have to parse it out from the stats, and I won't bother.
In the Summit, they had good years in 2013-2015:
2013: 29-20(12-7) 4th(3-seed) - 0-2 in SLT 2014: 29-22(9-8) -4th(3-seed) - 1-2 in SLT 2015: 28-25(13-4) 2nd(2-seed) - 2-2 in SLT (appeared in championship)
Since then they have been average/below average.
this season, so far: 2019: 28-18(11-1) 2nd...
This program has never won a conference regular season or tournament title. Ever. In any division.... A couple more wins and they will be making history. Most wins in D-1 era. Most conference wins. highest finish. First championship. etc.... Go Yotes!
