In reality, $132,500 is nothing to turn your nose up at. Amazing how jaded a person can get. Yet the Bison seem to have taken an adequate amount of time to fill the head coach position for the women in Fargo. It would seem likely the starting pay will be over the salary JD is earning. The starting pay could be in excess of $175K and there are assistant coaches applying. The pay is increasing in this neighborhood we know as the Summit. That right there increases the status of the Summit and should improve league play. We should be getting something for the money including better coaching methods and better recruiting.

All the Diehards are 100% all in on Football, even mens basketball is struggling with attendence While I appreciate the (rare) humility, Men's BB attendance for the Bison have only dipped this year, and only to 2,300 average. in the previous 11 years it was pretty consistently right around 3K. Better than both SD schools. I realize it isn't NCC 80's/90's numbers, but that's still pretty good for this conference. As for the women, ... yeah, your attendance has sucked for a while, but so has the product on the court. I think there is still potential for Fargo to keep up with the Jones's (the SD schools) with regard to fans. Much more potential than many other conference schools. Nobody shows up to watch Gravina's or Turgeon's great teams. I think Fargo would respond to a good product.

My thought about attending the game in Fargo is that they should make it more convenient for people to park and then walk to the arena. It was 20° below zero when we were up there this year. They have huge parking lots right outside the arena doors, but nobody was allowed to park there. They say they are for reserved for boosters or season-ticket holder‘s or whoever, but those people obviously weren’t coming to the games. They should open up one of the lots when attendance is that low, so we don’t have to walk that far in that bitter cold. I’m sure your own fans would appreciate it just as much is the visiting fans.

With the population base in Fargo NDSU should blow away USD and SDSU in attendance especially for weeknight games. More than 175,000 in the immediate area and they can't get many more than Brookings with around 20,000 or Vermillion with about 10,000 people. If USD or SDSU was located in Sioux Falls, what would be the guess on how much attendance would increase?

Tom Miller is the UND beat writer for the Grand Forks Herald. Some speculation that UND MBB will be looking for a new head coach.

Maybe he foresaw a termination in his future and skipped a couple bad years.

Some comments from new NDSU WBB head coach Jory Collins: I think this could be a good hire in the long run, but they will have to be patient if this guys doesn't have local recruiting connections, and has a loose gameplan for what he wants to implement. I doubt they will get many home-run recruits this year.
