Would love to hear what city is clean and safe then. Valley city, ND Heres a look at the crime in Murderapolis, the nations 56th most dangerous city ranked between Daytona Beach and Chicago. This map shows neighborhood by neighborhood the degree of your personal danger. On average 1 out of 91 is a victim of violent crime in that dirty place. Hopefully this will help keep you safe when choosing your football games. Bison/Butler is downtown and the SDSU game is at TCF, both areas near the top in crime violence. www.neighborhoodscout.com/mn/minneapolis/crimeheres the link for the top 100. Plan your games carefully for maximum security in a country that is now among the most violent in the world. www.neighborhoodscout.com/blog/top100dangerous

Just in Dinkytown and the Minnesota campus last night...had a blast, felt very safe walking around hitting the bars after midnight. Would much rather hang out in that area then downtown Minneapolis.

Leaving my house right now for Northeast Minneapolis and later Dinkytown. How many times does the GAM have me getting shot tonight?

Difference between Minneapolis and Valley City is that the denizens of Valley City are actually grateful if someone comes along and puts an end to their miserable existence.

What's the name of that bar in NE Minneapolis whose drink specialty is "Greenies"? Basically a glass of vodka with a packet of lime-aid dumped into it. So good, yet so dangerous.

I once filled out a written assessment of risk factors that determined your life expectancy. There were things such as seat belt use, eating habits, medical conditions, exercise, etc. I remember distinctly the one factor that had by far the biggest negative impact. It was: "Do you frequent bars and pick fights with strangers?".
My advice is to stay away from bars and picking fights with strangers and you'll probably live a much longer life!
That goes for anywhere you happen to be whether it's Minneapolis, Fargo, and my personal favorite, Memphis, Tennessee.

I've never been, but remarked on their sign the other day while driving by. Now I know what a Greenie is...the leading cause of death in NE MPLS.

I hope you are not a victim. Many are. Do you honestly believe any given trip into Minneapolis is a 1/91 chance of being shot? Your math would suggest that there are several thousand shootings each night. That might be even more egregious than your model putting sdsu as a TD favorite over Minnesota.

Smaller place. Big oval shaped bar right in the middle of it.

I should be dead by now.

Surely there are better sources. If you can create a football betting algorithm, I’d hope you have a better grasp of the nuances of crime stats than this. Here’s an example: I have worked and shopped in downtown Sioux Falls for years, and yet have never been the victim of violent crime. This despite the downtown being statistically the most dangerous part of town. I have a hunch that if I were a person buying or selling drugs in this part of town my chances of being a victim might increase dramatically. Or if I were walking through back-alleys solo at 3 AM. Crimes/population does not equate to any given resident or visitor’s odds of being a victim. Also, I’d like to see a more academic source for data.

Fun times and lots of places to hang out.
