It's here. The game both of these teams/programs have been building for since April 2018.
Massey gives the Yotes a 43% chance of winning at a neutral site. typical score:
68-71 Jacks win.
If the site were considered a road game we are given a 29% chance of winning. typical score:
67-74 Jacks win.
I would consider this a hybrid neutral/road game, so I'll split the difference. typical score:
68-72
At the end of the day, both of these teams played to OT in front of hostile crowds, so I think the effect of blue/red ratio is less of a factor for these talented, experienced teams. The bigger deal in terms of environment is just not letting the tournament environment or championship environment get to you mentally. I almost feel like that was a factor in last year's championship loss.
Obviously that is 100% speculation from someone with zero inside information, but either way, I don't think it will be a factor today. Some of the worst games the Yotes have played this year were in front of relatively empty gyms in Puerto Rico and Denver. Their upset wins were in full gyms in Vermillion and Columbus, MO.
My prediction:
70-70 tie in regulation (because, why not?)
Yotes win in OT: 85-82

Given the last few years, can't say I feel that confident going in. But I'm still hopeful. Also hoping that we have a great USD crowd on hand!

Yotes up 17-15 first Q
Very physical game, called tight. Lots of fouls, even touch fouls.
Duffy on bench with painful ankle roll for a while

Arens w 6. Seems like a lot of errant passes from both teams.

Miller getting her usual treatment on 2 consecutive and-1 touch fouls.
Monica Arens needs to stop shooting, there is a reason they leave her open.

45-38 Jacks at Half. Yotes settling for too many jump shots in the 2nd quarter. Credit to the Jacks Defense.

Miller getting her usual treatment on 2 consecutive and-1 touch fouls. Monica Arens needs to stop shooting, there is a reason they leave her open. One of those was a blatant charge into Monica. What a horrible 5-6 minutes in that 2nd quarter. Defense all out of sorts and every 3 falling for them.

SDSU is really good. Without Duffy, I just don’t think we’re capable of beating them. Have to give kudos to Sjerven, we’ve beaten SDSU in the minutes she’s played so far.
