I was sinking into a depression most of this game, but I was delighted to see us pull one out. Wasn't thrilled with some of our play down the stretch, and I suspect Coach Boots had a thing or two to tell his team after the game. Don't write the Yotes off just yet. We've already seen that this tournament offers ample opportunity for "underdogs" (defending champs).

A win is a win and we advanced in the tourney, that is all that matters. Just put one good game together, Jake or Louie get hot and that is all it takes to beat UVU.
I'm going to go out on a limb and say there will be more points scored in the game than fans in the stands.

A win is a win. I'll take it. Good luck tonight Yotes. Has anyone else tried watching it on the internet - UVU website has broadcasts? I haven't yet but I know someone who watched the women's game the other night. I'm going to try it tonight. Hope it's working. I remember last year the video and audio were about 30 seconds apart.

Yes, the UVU website does have live video streaming, and it's excellent quality. There is a direct link off of the gameday story on usdcoyotes.com

I'm not going to be too critical because any team would struggle losing their leading scorer at this time of the season. I felt The Yotes showed a lot of toughness especially in the 2nd half and overtime period. The change from zone to man-to-man defense the last 5 minutes and overtime was very timely. Thomas shot well, Cutler and Krogman made very timely plays on both ends the last 10 minutes of the game. Tecker was solid and Andreotti defended Chicago State's Montgomery very tough down the stretch. They really fought for this victory.
Against UVU tonight The Yotes will need to get more of an interior presence offensively and defensively. UVU is probably the most physical and best rebounding team in the conference. Other than Andreotti last night, there was pretty much no contribution off of the bench. They'll need some physical and intense play from their bench players tonight. Bouie, Krutwig or maybe even Bartling could play a big role in this game. They really can't afford unproductive minutes out of anyone who logs playing time tonight. I'm really hoping The Yotes can put together one of their best efforts of the season tonight. They're going to need it. Best of luck Yotes!

Don't know if I necessarily subscribe to this theory, but watching the Duke/Maryland game, one of the commentators (I believe paraphrasing a Duke coach) suggested that having the bye can have disadvantages - the opponent already has a "feel" for tournament play.
Doesn't look like it's hurting Duke at the moment, but let's just hope it hurts UVU. That's my story and I'm stickin to it! Go Yotes!

Exciting finish! Congrats to USD. Watched on the internet (UVU announcers disputed the out-of-bounds call on the last three-point shot by UVU). USD v. UND for the championship. (If USD wins, will the North Dakota legislature intervene? )

I am really happy to see the fight in the team the last two nights. They have really played tough without their leading scorer. It has been a complete team effort these last two games. They have been very exciting!
Everyone has been playing tough and has done their role in these wins. Louie and Jake are playing really tough. Cutler is playing very tough as well as Gruis and Andreotti. Tecker has filled in nice and it was nice to see Bouie step it up and have a great game. His contributions were huge tonight. Hopefully 3rd times a charm against the Sioux!

Great WIN. Watched second half on Internet. With regard to the last few seconds, I don't think there was conclusive evidence either way. From the replay the camera was too far back - no close up. The initial step did not look like he was out of bounds, but as he made a move to kind of change directions his foot looked like it made a pivot like move and I thought his heel turned towards the out of bounds line. That from replay looked like when the ref called him out. Their coach went nuts, his shirt was untucked. The announcers were going nuts. Hey, we finally got one to go our way at the end of a game.
Great job and looking forward to a win over the Sioux tonight. Go Yotes.

USD 74 UVU 73If I weren't such a perfectionist, I might pat myself on the back for this prediction. Great win for the Yotes! If tired coach-speak worked last night i.e. "having a bye in the first round can actually have disadvantages," let's roll with another bit today: It's difficult to beat a team three times in one season. The Yotes are due!!! USD 71 UND 63

Also, nice offensive performance by Jordan Boots- hit all of his shots. Great game all around. Bouie looked like he played well and hard too.

I'd like to see the Coyotes clean UND by a large margin. My concern, however, is the North Dakota Legislature will pass a bill declaring UND won and directing the ND Attorney General to start a lawsuit against USD if USD disagrees with the legislative action.

Admit it or not I believe many people didn't think USD was going to be able to pull if last night. No crap, without the top scorer even though he doesn't play defense...and in Orem....and i remember you being one of those people to.
