On using the non-con to work out rotations:
"It's an ongoing process, partly due to the depth that we have. We've got 4 to 5 middles ... that would be [starting] on a lot of teams in the Summit League."
"In the preseason, some of it is letting them work through things and struggle a little bit, and allowing them the opportunity to work through it.... not saying "Hey, you've made two errors, you're out!". But at the same time, trying to use our depth and give [all our players] opportunities...."
"...going into conference play, we're really using this week to ... really solidify what out lineup is gonna be. If I'm being completely honest, I don't know what that's gonna be yet for Friday."

On growth of the team:
"I don't know if anyone else has watched this, but Louisville just swept Nebraska on their home floor this past week. I felt a little better about only scoring 15 points against them in one of the sets."
"We haven't lost this many matches in a row in 5 or 6 years. For this group, this is new... It's a process. Continuing to trust, making sure they know that we trust them in terms of what they can do on the court."
"This program's always done a really good job of getting better after losses. of being determined. Not letting it hold us back, but propelling us forward."

She’s being brutally honest. They do play better when under pressure of being behind. That’s hard to admit. Basically the same squad as last year which tells me it’s more mental than anything else. They just need to win some matches and get the confidence back. They’re fine Part of me wonders if there is a lack of "100% zeroed in focus" due to overconfidence and they need to get behind to get fully focused. (I don't mean overconfidence in a negative context and not sure if that is the right word, but they know they have a history of turning things up a notch when needed to pull out a win) I am no where close to understanding volleyball, but if seems like for good teams there is a very fine line between winning and losing and you need to be fully locked in to be on the winning side of that line.

Coach Williamson was the first coach to do an interview on the new "7th Rotation" podcast, covering Summit Volleyball. It's almost an hour, so if you want to fast forward to the interview, it's at 21:00 to 33:00 linksome quotes: Q: who do you look up to in the coaching world?A: Role-model-wise, Matt Houk, at Minnesota. He was the one that gave me my start at coaching. And obviously he's killing it up there now. Kathy Litzau was my head coach when I played in college, and she showed me not only what it was like to be a good coach, and how to run a program, but also how to have a family. How to balance that. That's something that means a lot to me, being a mom and a wife myself now. Understanding that I can have both. I think the 3rd person I would throw in there is Kirsten Booth at Creighton. She's obviously done wonderful things with that program, and I just very much respect how she goes about her everyday life; how she works to improve her program and how she goes about it the right way. As a female in this profession that's something that I value, and something that I look up to as well. Q: What keeps you in Vermillion?A: First off, I've been here from the beginning... The second year of transitioning to Division-I. Being a part of that transition and that process of building was really important (and fun) for me. In terms of keeping me here, I value the people I work with. I value the student-athletes in our program. I very much enjoy the people that are around me. And that makes it fun to do this job. The second part of it is that for me, I don't think we've hit our ceiling. I don't feel like we've hit a limit in terms of what this program can achieve, or what our student-athletes can achieve. And I think they're doing some pretty great things already. I'm confident that there's more that we can do, and from a competitor's standpoint, that's important to me, constantly feeling like there is something else out there that we can do, something else that I can help this program achieve. I wholeheartedly believe that. The third part of it is the community around USD. The support that we have, not only from the community of Vermillion, but outside of that. That people want to come in to support this team, to support this program, through wins and losses. And not only as volleyball players, but as people. That means the world to me. I very much believe in loving what you do. And I very much love it here. My kids love it here. My husband loves it here. We have a great life here. But again, I truly believe that there's more that we can do.

This bunch of young ladies are so much fun to watch. Coach Williamson seems to always pull the right strings. Down 2-0 to Denver and they pull out the win. Cardiac kids.

Crucial times of the match way too many service errors. Just don't get it.
