Listening to some of the WBB Summit Coaches got me thinking about where they are from. four of them have slight southern accents. I looked it up, and found something interesting....
-All but one of the Summit WBB coaches are from the midwest (not sure on Niecee Williams, she played in Portland, OR)
-Four of them are from in, or very close to Kansas. (Jory Collins-Holton, KS; Jim Turgeon-Topeka, KS; Missy Cussen-El Reno, OK; JD Gravina-Kansas City, KS.
-Three of those coaches are from towns less than 50 miles from Lawrence, KS. Basically Jayhawk country. Basketball coaching cradle, like Ohio/Pennsylvania has been for football coaches.
-Two from Iowa (Brewster and Lange)
-Most of these coaches are from smaller towns and small cities (Add to the towns listed above Sac City, IA, Cedar Rapids, IA, Pine Island, MN, West Bend, WI) Interesting.

A couple of quotes from Coach P on USD media day (Oct 15)
On possible line-ups:
"I think we have options right now... If we stay with the four remaining starters, and we put Hannah in with that group, then we're a lot bigger than we've been. We did that on one or two occasions last year. I think we need to learn how to play that way."
"I think we have options to play a smaller group as well. In our starting line-up there are 3 or 4 young ladies who really have done a tremendous job in the summer and the preseason:
Monica Arens is someone that played 23 minutes a game for us last year. She probably led the conference in charges taken... that makes a difference. She's someone you can count on defensively, and is becoming a better on-ball defender.
Liv Korngable is someone that played 13 minutes a game for us. She's someone that can not only shoot the ball extremely well (and quickly), but someone that can really lock down and defend.
So we have some options to play some perimeter kids that can help us offensively, and defensively. We have options with Hannah to play bigger than we have played in the past... I think what will be interesting (to discover) is what suits us best.... does it depend on who we are playing against?
One of the things we have focused on this year is who we are defensively. We were a good team last year, defensively, and our goal is to be even better... We have been working on ways to make Hannah and Taylor as comfortable as possible defending out on the perimeter..."

On the Summit League:
"I believe that there are some very good teams in the conference outside of the two that you mentioned. Oral Roberts has been one of the top teams, defensively, in our league. They were 3rd in the country in 3-pt field goals made last year. They're gonna be really good.
Denver is another team that... they finished 5th in 3-pointers made. They are a team that plays really fast, is very well-coached and disciplined.
Western Illinois came in a couple of years ago, and gave teams fits with their zone. They are a veteran team now, a great contender in our league.
.... Last year the Summit was one of the top 3-point shooting leagues in the nation. We had five of the top-34 teams in the country in 3-pt FG made. For us, being able to extend defensively will be important."
