Tuesday's match vs. SDSU will be impactful for both teams -
For the Yotes, a win will clinch three things: a share of the regular-season title, a 1-seed in the VB SLT, and tournament-hosting rights for next year! Great opportunity.
For the Jacks, they are still in a 4-team fight for the last conference tournament spot. Beating ORU at home on Sunday keeps them tied for 6th. I would assume that the opportunity to knock off a conference-leading team that happens to be a state rival would give some extra juice to the game as well. We might see some blue in the stands? A little bit, anyway.
Stat wise, I just don't see any way we don't sweep them. I'm going to skip any in-depth statistical analysis. Last time the score was
25-16 25-15 25-16
I feel like this team is playing at a high level, and will not want to lose focus. Should be another sweep, with at least one of the sets featuring a single-digit score for the Jacks. Maybe the second one. We should see a number of backups subbing in.

They did it! Summit League Champions! #1 seed! Vermillion will host next year! Clean sweep of the Jacks.

They did it! Summit League Champions! #1 seed! Vermillion will host next year! Clean sweep of the Jacks. Since it is their MO, I suspect we will find out shortly that the Summit League required VB tourney tickets to be bought 2 years ago for next years tourney, and Denver fans have essentially bought them all....

This year's seniors never lost a set to SDSU. If you are counting sets, the Yotes were 24 - 0 vs SDSU over the last 4 years.

Ha! I realize that you are just being facetious (as usual), but of course this is an imperfect analogy to the BB SLT catering to the Jacks fans. A better analogy would be something that might actually happen: 1. Vermillion breaks attendance records in hosting the VB SLT in consecutive years. Omaha and Jacks fans also show up to the party. 2. Baxter Arena and the Pentagon continue to break their own VB attendance records (for Summit match-ups only - Nebraska and Creighton matches always draw big), as Coyote fans in Sioux Falls and Omaha come out of the woodwork. 2. Douple and his Sanford sponsors see an opportunity, and vote to change VB to a neutral site awarded a contract. Due to the lack of hotels in Vermillion, and the need for a "neutral" site, this would more likely be in Sioux Falls, Sioux City or Omaha. 3. Fearing a consolidation of everything in Sioux Falls, Omaha is awarded the contract. Possibly somewhere other than Baxter Arena, so it can be "neutral". Maybe Sokol Arena? 4. This helps grow both SLT attendance (there are non-Summit VB fans that would show up in Omaha) and the profile of Summit VB nationally, as the BB SLT has done for Summit BB in some ways. 5. Omaha-based Summit alumni (many from the SD schools) will increase their following of basketball, as well. Baxter Arena will be even more filled with Yote and Jack fans for years to come. Some will begin making trips to Vermillion for home games.... 6. Our recruiting of Omaha will be even more fruitful. Of course, for my evil plan to work, steps one and two will need to happen....

I have posted on here all season and haven't said much about the crowds at the volleyball matches. Our team is 24-1 (the best record in the entire NCAA), a 21 match win streak, & undefeated in conference, I am at a loss why the SCSC is not nearly filled to capacity with both USD students & fans supporting our team. The marketing team is throwing out promotions right and left to get butts in the seat. We owe this team to be there when they can win a regular season championship outright at home.
Students, back your team and spend a couple of hours cheering for a winning USD team, I want the band there to help, the cheer and dance team revving up crowd and I implore the fan base to get your tickets. It is easy when the team is not playing well to find something to do on game nights, but when you are having the kind of season they are, at a high flying, action filled sport like they are playing, get out there!!! We need the music rocking and the PA Announcer to exude enthusiasm to get the crowd going. We can do this for our Lady Yotes Volleyball team!!! I am will get off my soap box now!!! Thank You for reading to my rant!!!

Thank You for reading to my rant!!! We can always do better, but with all due respect, you have to look at it relative to the sport and the conference. I think the progress we have made with regard to VB attendance has been incredible. Credit the team for being consistently amazing, credit the administrators for the vision of getting this team out of "the den" and into a first-class facility, credit all the donors for making that dream a reality, And yes, credit the fans for finally and gradually realizing what they have in this program and facility. Here is the average attendance so far for 2019 Summit teams: 1,076 USD 767 NDSU 739 UND 487 Omaha 391 ORU 316 PFW 275 SDSU 271 Denver 209 WIU I mean, Denver has had a consistently amazing team for several years, ... and they still don't show up. This 1K average is right in line with the recent championship years at both NDSU and UND. They just have smaller gyms that amplify the affect. I have a feeling that if SDSU were this good, they might show up about as well, even though Frost kinda sucks for volleyball. I think it's possible to average more, and I think we will. You just have to understand that this isn't basketball. The sport has less appeal for some people. The progress we have made as a fan base, relative to the sport, and from where we have come from (350 was a sellout for "the den") has been great. We should celebrate that.

Building up the fanbase for a Coyote sports program can be a laborious and slow process. It's building a house, brick by brick. We've seen that with basketball. Here's some of those bricks:
The Pentagon asked our admin how many fans to prepare for. They said "maybe 500?"......... over 1K showed up. I'd call that progress.

I'm a basketball-first guy, but the match Sunday had my wife even saying 'this is amazing, we should make it to more games next year'. That said, I was thinking 2K or even 3K would be there.... Volleyball is a much bigger sport in NE and IA, but in SD it is still largely thought of as something to offer girls while it is FB season.

Kiyoat, I always appreciate the information and feed back you provide for this forum. It is incredible the amount of time you spend for the readers. I had to chuckle a bit when you put the phrase... " but with all due respect", in your response. That is a politically correct way for you to say I was completely unrealistic in my thought process. I am totally okay with your comment. My thoughts are my thoughts, realistic or not, it was what I wanted for this team and all USD Teams. I don't rant much and this will be my one and only time, but I needed to get it off my chest. Thanks for calling me out on it.

No big deal. That’s what this forum is for, anyway. Rant all you want. You aren’t wrong about all our teams needing more fan support. How long are we going to let the Jacks completely own the BB SLT, for example.
I just thought I’d provide a little perspective on this particular sport. Being top-50 in attendance as a mid-major is pretty darn good.
It shouldn’t have to take a Herculean effort to get students to games, ... but it does. Part of it is just the times we are living in. Student attendance is down everywhere. Live sports attendance is down everywhere. It is what it is. I think this program and admin is doing all the right things. They are just fighting a strong headwind.
