Hags should be fresh for the last game today.

Some thoughts from last night:
It was so nice to see Hagedorn out there again. Early in the game he had a play where he went from the perimeter, blew by his guy and went past another in the lane to get underneath for a layup. It showed just how dynamic he can be. Big men aren't supposed to be able to just slide through the defense like that.
The big surprise of the game for me was the play of Hunter Goodrick. He got a lot of minutes with Hagedorn in foul trouble and he made the most of it. Goodrick didn't look like a true freshman playing in his second college game whatsoever. Every part of his game was impressive. He scored underneath, grabbed huge rebounds on both ends of the floor, hit a 3 to silence the crowd, made free throws down the stretch, played excellent defense. I'm really excited to see how the year goes for him.
Simpson is a stud. 8/11 for 22 points with some very tough shots. We've got enough tools around him that he could really shine this year whether we've got him at the 1 or the 2. It's clear he can do both very well.
Jovic, Chisom, and Perrott-Hunt were all out on the floor together for about 5 minutes in the first half, along with Armstrong and either Simpson or Umude. It was an interesting lineup that held the lead and I think actually built it a little. We wouldn't see any of those guys again for the rest of the game though. I hope they get more time tonight against a much weaker Florida A&M team. Depth is about the only question I had about this team heading into the season so I'm anxious to see what our bench looks like.
Hawaii made us beat them from the FT line and our guys did it. 21/26 in the second half. Goodrick was the only guy with 2 misses. Everyone else was perfect or missed 1. Kelley went 4/4 in the last 20 seconds to seal the win. I think I'd trust anyone on the floor to be at the line this year.
Hawaii looks like they are going to be a tough team to beat in the Big West. I don't expect them to win it, but they're going to give everyone a lot of trouble. Taking a win from them in a hostile environment half way across the globe was a very impressive performance. The team needs to take it one game at a time, but as I look ahead I'm predicting we are 12-2 heading into conference play. I'll be disappointed if we lose to anyone besides Washington or Arkansas. The Yotes look really good this year.

I don't know a whole lot about this team, but I'm really excited for this season. We have a good balance of senior leaders, experienced play makers, and young talent. Depth actually looks like a strength this year looking at the box score and hearing from a lot of you guys. Looks like it should be a fun season in the SCSC for both the men and women.

Umude or Hags may score more points or get more attention, but for this team to operate at the highest level, it is going to be up to Simpson. He is the engine that drives this bus, IMHO. He does everything and seems to be a consummate team player.

It's not even halftime and Simpson has 20 points on 5/5 shooting. Wish I could see the game to understand how Florida A&M is making all their shots though. 40-40 with 1:30 left in the half.

I'm not sure if I misheard Van Goor, but Simpson only has 15 points. I'm dying for video here. Tied 44-44 at half. Both teams are shooting at a very high percentage. FA&M has two more offensive rebounds and is +4 on turnovers, but has missed some free throws. Not at all a fan of giving up this many points to this team in the 1st half.

Yotes win 85-82. Won't lie, I'm really disappointed we only won by 3. This was unquestionably the weakest team in the field, which is pretty baffling that this ended up being the closest game. We had to shoot 59% from the field, 65% from 3, and 79% from the line to win by 3. Yikes. They crushed us on boards and had half the turnovers we did, plus shot very well form the field (but not from 3 or the line thankfully).
3-0. Go back home and win some more.

I agree Yotes about not our best game and especially on D, but winning ugly is better than the alternative! Four missed Coyote FTs in a row at the end made the score closer and that was after being 22-24 before that. They only had 3 3s at about 33% and since we couldn't stop them from scoring inside and several old fashioned 3 pt plays, I thought we might try a zone for awhile but I don't think we did. Well rest on the return trip starting tonight and get ready for a very good Texas Southern team and pack the SCSC! Go Yotes and congrats on SWEEPING the Rainbow Classic!!!

Don’t know how to bring over a photo. I have a couple of photos from Hawaii I’d share As far as personal photos, I think they have to exist online somewhere to be referenced here. You can’t upload photos or any other digital imagery directly here. I think any of the many social media sites will allow direct uploads of pictures, then can reference here. Also there are many image-hosting specific sites. Some have free accounts. If you are posting from a computer, in upper part of the window you will see a bunch of editing functions as buttons. The button all the way to the right is the "Insert/Embed" button. Click that and you will see a whole bunch of social media platforms you can automatically embed from, like Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn, Pinterest, Google Drive, etc. If using an image hosting site, you can copy/paste the URL directly after clicking the "insert image" button. If you are using a mobile device, it is sometimes even easier to link stuff. You may have to get advice on that from one of our younger posters, though.

Thanks. Had a photo of the team with the Championship trophy. Cool trophy. Wooden top with the stereotypical Hawaiian dude. I’m gonna nickname it THE BIG KAHUNA

I’m gonna nickname it THE BIG KAHUNA YF, do you have any comments or perspective on the way we played? In particular, can you add some color to our performance against Florida A&M? I would have expected us to cruise in this one, but I also recognize we were playing back to back games AND maybe the team was looking past them as well after taking care of business against Hawaii.

Third game of a road trip played in Hawaii. I'll give them a pass on game performance because at that point all that matters is getting the W. It's hard to go on an extended road trip, period, much less to one in Hawaii.
