The SDSU board legitimately in a smacking way have an over/under on the number of penalties in the game on USD. The Coyotes have 89 penalties and the next highest is Youngstown at 72. Although not in their smack thread because certain mods don’t ever admonish one of their own ( one posts here with 2 names ) it is a legit statement to make.
However, given the fact they started it, what would you say the number of cramps the Jacks will have Saturday? The over/under is 5.5. However, if the game gets tight, and the Coyotes are driving the ball, and SDSU has a limited number of time outs left, that number jumps to 7.5. It will happen, the question is how many?

Any “cramping” in the game will be met with boos and scrutiny on how quickly the player “recovers”. One would think that the optics might discourage that ethically questionable, but legal strategy.
Of course, every hard tackle will be booed and called “targeting” by Jacks fans. This is the ugly reality of this rivalry game going forward. I’m fine with that if we can just get over the hump and win one.

I don't see crampgate being an issue this weekend. Our offense doesn't play the up tempo style as much as we did 2 years ago under Streveler. If it does happen I guarantee the boos will rain down. That game and the fake injury crap that State pulled will never be forgotten though.
As to the issue of cramping in college football. I've always maintained that since there is so much emphasis on player safety these days, that if a person suffers an injury that requires a stoppage of play there should be a requirement they sit out of the game a set amount of time, like 2 minutes of game time, or be held out until a change of possession. I think you would see less play stoppages for injury with players making a miraculous recovery and returning the very next play.
Okay, that's not smack.

Cramps have been embarrassing. I hope we don’t see them this weekend.
I am legitimately worried about some cheap shot stuff though. Nielsen’s teams are not disciplined, which you’re well aware. I think the game will get chippy with both teams.

Sorry, I didn't "look before typing" when I posted a cramps-related message under the STATE WEEK thread.
On the other hand, can you have too many crampgate-related posts on this board? Perhaps not.

I just watched the end of the SDSU game from this weekend and I would have thought it was ground hog day. As Southern Illinois was going down the field at the end of the 4th with all of the momentum, all of sudden SDSU players were going down with "injuries" to slow the game down, and then coming right back in on the next play. Hmmmmmm seems like a trend to me!!!

In my book they have forever earned the nickname "cramprabbits". I would find it embarrassing as a player on a ranked team to resort to this behavior instead of playing football. To me this shows a lack of morals and sportsmanship on the part of the couching staff if not the entire bunny school administration for allowing this. Their players should drink plenty of pickle joose before they show up in Vermillion this year.

We were discussing this yesterday when my daughter brought up the fact that in volleyball, when the other team has momentum, some teams would look to the up official and ask for a towel to wipe the floor. That would slow down the run and preserve timeouts. Some teams would do this a ridiculous amount of times where it became quite transparent. IF they do this with that intention, and they certainly do it far more than any team I know, it reveals coaching staff integrity. The problem is how do you prove it? In 2019 there was the clip of the player that fell down and “cramped up” several seconds after the play. If someone still has that clip bring it back to life will ya?
There’s no room in the game for this stunt, or any like it.

Didn't know yellow cards were a thing in volleyball.

I know this is supposed to be a smack section but in all honesty should the Jacks take the blame or should the officials. The Jacks are just doing what the officials are letting them get away with. Sure it's gamesmanship but if the officials don't call it a foul, than is all intents and purposes it is not a foul on the Jacks but instead a foul on the refs.
