Indiana beat South Carolina by double figures on a neutral floor. They are plenty worthy of their spot.
This is as wide open a women’s season as I’ve ever seen. There are going to be good nights and bad nights for everybody as we’ve seen. Worrying about what sports media knows and doesn’t is just going to make you crazy because most of them don’t know much.
Yotes just keep taking care of business on the floor and stay healthy and they’ll be in great shape come March.

I think the only thing this team should be worrying about is losing focus, and believing the hype. I don't think that will be a problem, as they seem to have the same mantra as the Yotes volleyball team... "One game at a time" or: "going 1-0".
We haven't had to weather the storm of a Summit team just going off from the arc, but it absolutely could still happen. I'm encouraged by the defense lately. Much better than at the start of the year.

Recent bracketology: Same fictional rank, same fictional host, new fictional first-round opponent. Texass.

Creighton probably wouldn't like that first-round matchup, I would guess. Works for me. OTOH, Marquette (last team in) should be glad that the Summit no longer shows two teams in.

Beat the best team in your conference by 30. Drop in rankings. Not a great sign and speaks to how down the Summit is besides us this year.

I wouldn't put much stock into that bracketology. It's been clear into the past that not much thought goes into it.

Home on a Monday so I'm doing a little poll watching. USD sits at 25/21 in the AP/Coaches polls. No one around us had any remarkable wins. 19/17 Missouri State had a bad loss at Southern Illinois, and 17/18 WVU lost twice, so I'm guessing we pass both of them.
I predict we move up to 19 in the coaches poll and 23 in the AP poll. I'm noticing mid-majors get more love across the board in the coaches poll. If the AP voters care to notice our win yesterday maybe we will move up an additional spot or two.

Close! #24 in the AP poll. #22 Northwestern 118 #23 Tennessee 116 #24 South Dakota 110 #25 West Virginia 63

I didn't account for Northwestern. They jumped 4 spots for beating Indiana, who only fell 2 spots.
I was correct that the AP doesn't care about our win yesterday though. Dominant win over a good team and we merely stay afloat. I'm going to spend a lot of time this season rooting against the teams near us in the polls.

Post-SDSU blowout win, our RPI is now #43. Here are some end-of season RPI projections for the Yotes:
RealTimeRPI: - Yotes lose @ SDSU 75-76 - Yotes finish with #45
Warren Nolan: - Yotes win @ SDSU 73-65 - Yotes finish with #36
Massey: - Yotes win @ SDSU 70-64 (RPI not tracked)
Average those three, and we would be favored by -7.5 at Frost, with an O/U of 141, (mythical score 74-67).
So losing to one Summit team wouldn't completely tank our RPI (for the numerical rank, it wouldn't matter which team). I have to think that if that loss comes to any other team than SDSU, we would be on the bubble, having suffered a "bad loss" in the committee's eyes. Even then, I like our chances. Now losing twice.... that might put an at-large out-of-reach, even with our previous accomplishments.
That makes each game critical, so let's keep on supporting the team.

Heading into next week's polls currently sitting at 24th in the AP and 18th in the Coaches poll, here's what the teams around us did:
16/16 Arizona State - Loss to Arizona 17/24 Indiana - Loss to Maryland, Beat Penn State 18/19 Arizona - Beat Arizona State 19/21 Iowa - Beat Ohio State, Beat Michigan State 20/17 Maryland - Beat Indiana, Beat Illinois, Beat Northwestern 21/20 Arkansas - Loss to Georgia, Beat Florida 22/25 Northwestern - Beat Michigan State, Loss to Maryland 23/23 Tennessee - Beat Alabama, Loss to UConn, Beat LSU 25/27 West Virginia - Loss to Oklahoma State, losing big to TCU now 26/22 Missouri State - Beat Indiana State, Beat Evansville
I'll guess that we leapfrog Arkansas/Northwestern/Tennessee in the AP poll. Maaaybe we pass Arizona State in the Coaches poll, but I'm guessing we don't and then get jumped by Arizona.
That puts my guess at 21st in the AP and 19th in the Coaches this week.

^^nice work. Having some correlation between the polls would be a good thing, I think. Might legitimize our ranking a little. I'll predict we get moved back up to a 6-seed in the Bracketology, too.
