We've definitely hit a ceiling here. Only gained 3 votes with a bunch of teams around us continuing to lose.

We've definitely hit a ceiling here. Only gained 3 votes with a bunch of teams around us continuing to lose. I think the advantage we will have is that the longer we are in the top-25, the more familiar we will be to the committee members determining seeds and at-larges. We might not keep climbing, but we aren't going anywhere, either. Having Duffy mentioned a lot for her outstanding senior season helps, too.

just an honest question from a wbb fan. who might come after coach? fans of the summit know it can happen sooner rather than later. it is what it is.

just an honest question from a wbb fan. who might come after coach? fans of the summit know it can happen sooner rather than later. it is what it is. I don't have any inside information, but I have to think that the only programs Dawn might consider would be Power-5, and probably she would want to stay in the midwest region (all her past coaching and recruiting experience is in upper midwest). The current reputation of the USD program makes any other mid-major program a lateral move or worse for her, I think. She is paid well compared to most mid-major salaries, and there is no income tax here. The recruiting is great here as well. She has some talent in the pipeline, so this program's engine will keep running for a while. I think the WBB program has really created some momentum, and it will be hard for her to step away from that. She has seen her mentor take his P-5 "dream job", only to go back to the mid-major program he made a name for himself at. "The grass isn't always greener" was her words to describe that situation. But, looking at the regional teams, especially in or near Wisconsin, the University of Wisconsin is struggling for relevancy, but that coach hasn't been there that long. I don't see a lot of P-5 schools in the region that are on the verge of firing their coach yet. A.J. playing in Vermillion might help as well, although their daughter has verballed to Grand Valley State in Michigan (Dawn coached there). If she stays, we win. If she goes, it will be for a massive upgrade, and we will win by becoming an even more desirable job for applicant coaches. Either way, the future is bright.

While I have no doubt that Coach P’s stock has risen, I don’t believe she’ll be leaving anytime soon. I think with AJ now at USD she’ll be around for at least another few years. In the meantime with all of the success in the rankings and national attention I think Herbster should make her the highest paid coach at USD and in the State.
I’m okay with a #21 spot, I do think we are easily capable of being a top 15 tho. But to even be ranked when the Summit is so bad this year is a miracle in itself. I think if we win out we will end up being 19 or 18 AP and 15 in the coaches poll before the SLT.

Up to #20 in the AP Poll. Should move up one, possibly two, in the coaches poll, depending upon how Oregon State does against UCLA tonight.

I’m sure this has been asked before, but what’s the highest rank a summit school has ever had in the polls?

I’m sure this has been asked before, but what’s the highest rank a summit school has ever had in the polls? The Summit doesn't directly mention that as an official record,... But you can figure it out based on their all-time records vs ranked teams. (Just look through the opponents). The ranking listed represents the highest of either the AP or the Coaches at the time. #14 SDSU--------Mar 2009 #15 USD--------Feb 2020#21 Northern Ill Feb 1993 #23 USD---------Feb 2019 *edit: updated with the Yotes' new (program high) coaches poll ranking.

I’m sure this has been asked before, but what’s the highest rank a summit school has ever had in the polls? I have been wondering the same and assumed it was the 2009 sdsu team. I seem to recall they got a 7 seed in the tourney. Smashed the 10 seed then lost a nailbiter to the 2 seed (Baylor?). I was a senior in high school at the time and thought it was very cool that a team from SD was achieving such things. It's kind of crazy they weren't able to use such a head start to leave USD in the dust. Really hope this team leaves a legacy unlike any other.

Some results that could help us:
11/11 Arizona loss to Colorado 12/12 DePaul loss to Villanova 15/14 Oregon State loss to UCLA and loss to Stanford 17/18 Florida State loss to Georgia Tech 21/24 Arizona State loss to Utah (bonus because of our win over Utah) 22/25 Arkansas loss to Florida
We should pass at least 1 team in each poll with the losses by Florida State and Oregon State. I'm optimistic we move up two spots though.
