Back in the day, the Presidents of the respective schools met at the 50 after the game and the losing President had to remove his slacks. I think that stopped when Betty Asher was our President for obvious reasons. Lol
I think the Jug should be awarded to the winning President on the 50 immediately after the game, and in turn presented to their respective team for pomp and circumstance that goes along with winning.

You're kidding about the school presidents, right YF?
In actuality - at least in the late '60s and early '70s - it was the losing student body president who had to take off their pants. I first mentioned it on this board years ago when the subject came up. Don't know why that "tradition" was lost. Never knew about the jug back in the day, maybe in part because my recollections of U. vs State games were pretty hazy - evidently I had my own jug, if you know what I mean!

I wasn’t kidding but now I’m not certain if it was school presidents or student body presidents. I have a strong hunch you’re right and I’m mistaken

As a player I don’t recall the Jug either.

As a player I don’t recall the Jug either. It's certainly possible the Jug was forgotten, lost, or simply not exchanged for certain periods of our history. It would be fun to piece the history of the Jug back together. I'm sure somebody out there knows. When did you play? Also the de-pantsing. It probably wouldn't be acceptable in today's social climate, but if it was a tradition, maybe some less offensive form could be brought back. Like you suggested with student body presidents exchanging the trophy.

Maybe the Jug has been in Brookings since the 50s. Based on Stig's interview three years ago, there are current scores on it.

I do recall one case of the pants exchange when I was in school. I think it was the SDSU Student's Association president that walked off the field in his winter thermals (on a pretty nice day, actually. )

Do they even have Student Body/Association Presidents? So much has changed over the years.

Youtube is a great place to find how-to videos. Here's a helpful one.

There seems to be an obstacle to this very easy transaction. Maybe this will help, Stig just send it to:
"Not my rival" Department of Athletics, 206 DakotaDome (why can't we have nice things) 414 E. Clark Street Vermillion, SD 57069
*I would ask for pickup services, as the roads in Brookings can be challenging!

I’ll be in Brookings the week after the 1st. I’ll personally pick it up ( and snicker when I leave )

Made the mistake of going over to the Bunny Board (it's always a mistake to venture there). Predictably, there was a thread over there about the LBJ, in the smack section of course. Jacks fans don't have a clue about it and think we're whining about a retired trophy. Here's the deal, many of us Coyote fans forgot about it too. We didn't bring it up, Stig did, and he did it on regional television even commenting about how he continued to engrave scores on it. If you're engraving scores on the trophy it's still active.
Your own head coach brought it up and brought it back into play, now it's time to return it. You lost.
