Clearly this game will benefit from NOT being a double-header with the women's game. Last year demonstrated that. Both games are huge draws, and going back-to-back was just too draining for fans. Not to mention the loss in revenue making your biggest two games a double-header. But I digress....
Like the women's game, this game has huge implications for the conference race, and local bragging rights. Unlike the women's game, our men's team will probably not be favored. But really, in games like these you can throw the prognostications out the window. Rivalry games are different.
The crowd is bigger and nastier. The pressure (for both teams) is higher. The psychological aspects of the game are put to the test. Which team will rise to the occasion, and which will wilt under the pressure? Coach Lee said he likes three kinds of players:
1. Tough players 2. Guys that care about the team 3. Guys that love the game
Our toughness is about to be tested.

Coach Lee is psyched for the game:
I'll assume he is referring to the actual animal carcasses that were thrown on the floor in NCC days, and not players sliding across the floor. Funny stuff.

My wife grew up in Brookings in a jack rabbit family. They're nice people, but just have terrible taste in uniform colors. Anyway, we're heading up there this weekend for our baby shower, and I really don't want to ruin the weekend with a poor attitude so I need us to WIN!
In all seriousness, this is a pivotal game. We can't afford to let this one go. Hopefully, Coach Lee can get the guys rested and prepped in the three short days we have to get ready.

We’re awfully quiet for a rivalry game. I’m gonna do my best to be there for both games, The roads look decent near me but I’m also 40 miles west of Yankton so if anyone has an update on them closer to verm that’d be helpful. Hopefully we can get a big crowd tomorrow because this team deserves it.

Hopefully we can get a big crowd tomorrow because this team deserves it. I'm not sure of the logistics in turning two separate games into a double-header after selling 3K tickets for each... but they did it. If you buy a ticket now, it is one price for a double-header. Also, all the six center sections are sold out, there are about 150 seats left in the end bleachers, and about 600 left in the corners. It will be a sell-out, at least by ticket-sales standards. My only questions are: 1. will the students show up? 2. how many will stay for the men's game? If last year is any indication, the women's game will be an insane atmosphere, and some percent of the crowd might leave for the mens. I hope that isn't the case this year, but two huge rivalry games in a row are taxing. I will say that if the women's game had stayed on today, there would have been a good number of empty seats due to weather. I think this is the best scenario, given the circumstances.

The weather should have kept all students in town for the weekend. I am guessing they will be out in force tomorrow.

What’s the weather like now in Vermillion. Quit snowing here but winds still blowing 30+ mph. Gusts to 43

Can't wait to see which team shows up and what type of energy will be in the building after what I expect to be a close WBB game.

Roads aren’t good. Normal 2 hour drive I’m not gonna chance it given the temps. We are really bummed. Hoping the teams do their things.

I hope everyone's got plenty of hate leftover for the second game today. I know I do!

52-38 at half. Shooting 69% from the field. We've got some good hating today. Hate state!

There is no reason with the talent on this Coyote team that they shouldn't go on a big winning streak as the Summit season goes on. The Coyotes are so lucky to have Hagedorn, Umude and Simpson on this team. Is there a better big three in the conference?

It seems like they are finally playing with some purpose. The talent is there but they seem to have lulls way too often. Hopefully they can keep it going today and going forward in the conference schedule.

Between UNO, the missed opportunity in Fargo, and today so far, does anyone need any more convincing that we should be the best team in the league?
The only consistently poor part of our game is defending the 3. It's horrible.
