Very impressive win by the Yotes against a very good Oral Roberts team! The Coyotes shot 54%, 40% from 3 and 86% at the FT line and held ORU to 21% from 3. The Coyote bench scored 17 vs ORU's 11.
Hags had a huge game with 31 and made 6 of 8 from 3!! Great overall team win!! Keep rolling Yotes!!!

Now 5-3 and on 4th place in conference. Only one game back from first, though.
Great way to start the second half of the conference season.

This team is really starting to gel. Here's hoping they can solve their road woes because that seems to be the only thing holding them back right now. We'll see in the next few games. The two loses to Ft Wayne and Western to open the conference season were brutal and most likely precludes a chance at a conference title but this seems to be an entirely different team now with positive contributions from the bench and a 100% healthy Simpson.

There's a lot to like lately for this team. Bench play is improving, defensive intensity for longer periods of the game, movement and sharing the ball on offense, and FT shooting is solid. Five out of six, since the early season stumble, the one loss a close one on the road to a contender.
I'm looking forward to the second half!

It took some time, but this team is playing like I knew they could. We have the best starting 5 in the league, and I'm not sure it's even close. We have convincing wins over every team in the top half of the league, except for that missed opportunity in Fargo (and I'd gladly face them again a couple more times).
Can't get those first few games of league play back, but with how the team has returned to form I'll make the bold prediction that we are a top 2 seed in the Summit and will get that extra day of rest during the tournament.

Top two seed would be nice for obvious reasons, but I think it's more important this season to get at least a top three seed. The difference? The quality of opponent in the first round. Seems to be a drop off in talent after five in strength of opponent, although it's become clear that just about anyone can beat anybody on a given night. The four/five game could be brutal. This might be the most balanced the tourney has ever been.

Granted I have only watched SDSU WBB, and ORU WBB when they played at the U but ORU>SDSU.
The first 5 USD players off the bench could (should) start for most of the other teams in the conference.
The Yote WBB team is GOAT in my opinion. You have to credit the players for how hard they have worked and Coach P and staff for their recruitment and development.
Finally, I would probably pay admission to watch one of their full blown scrimmages!

Losing to Western an PFW is going to make getting a top 2 seed difficult, especially when we’ve already played a lot of home games. SDSU has 4/4 left home/road. NDSU has 3/5. Of course anything is possible yet, but my guess is SDSU wins the league and we have a chance to fight it out with NDSU for 2nd.

USD men's basketball is fun to watch again. When the guys play as hard and intense as they have the last few conference games, they can compete with and defeat anyone in the league. Fans have really gotten into the last stretch of games and made them fun to be at. As a fan that goes to every game, the intensity is on a whole different level than it was at the beginning of the season.

While I would like us to win the league and get the 1, I think a 2 or 3 could be our sweet spot. I think right now the 1 seed could add a bit too much pressure for the team to win it all. If SDSU gets the 1, there’s undoubtedly going to be last years 1/8 game that they lost in the back of their mind. It’s a new team and coach but It could still psych them out or really fuel them, but this year in this league a win isn’t a guarantee. So beating ORU who had been starting click really helps solidify our chances for that top 3.

I'd be so disappointed if we just held serve and finished with a 4 seed. I really think this team is poised to run through the second half of conference play: at Denver at Omaha at UND WIU at ORU NDSU at sdsu UND It's heavy on road games, but I'm still thinking we go 6-2 the rest of the way to finish 11-5 with a 2 seed. If I had to pick two losses they would be in Tulsa and Brookings. Wouldn't be surprised if either of those were wins though. I'm expecting wins everywhere else, but of course teams will have off nights.

Next three game will determine where we end up in conference. The Omaha game is critical.
