Western Illinois coming to town tonight at 2-9 in the Summit League. Their two wins are against 1-10 Denver, and us. Oh to have those first couple league games back.
Despite their record, WIU has played respectably lately. Here's their last 5 games:
L 75-69 at Fort Wayne L 71-61 vs sdsu L 70-49 vs NDSU L 83-77 at UND L 87-82 at UNO
They lost all 5, but were competitive in each game sans NDSU. I'm hoping the Yotes get their revenge in a big way and keep showing we belong at the top of the league.

Looking ahead is a bad thing, but I'm really going to be pumped if we take care of business this week. Things really look exciting if we do.

Noticed at the start of this game that Western's head coach is 53-118 and in his 6th season. That's a crazy bad record. Looking at his 6 years:
2020: 2-9 clinging to 8th place 2019: 4-12 8th place 2018: 3-11 8th place 2017: 5-11 8th place 2016: 3-13 9th place 2015: 3-13 9th place
I get that Western Illinois is in uncomfortable territory as an institution, but are they trying at all here? I guess one could sarcastically point out that they have improved over his tenure. Won a game in the SLT last year!

The ESPN broadcast from Midco cuts out continuously, and if you watch the stream on GoYotes.com, the audio has a terrible echo. It's like no one at these broadcaster offices watches and knows what is going on. Not the first time tonight.

ESPN+ audio sounds fine to me.
Yotes need to keep attacking the rim. They can get into a lull and lack aggressiveness at times

85-72 final.
Team got off to a horrible start, and really didn't play a very impressive game overall. Still a 13 point win. Concerned about Kelley. He did not look good at all when he left the game.

Did Kelly dislocate his shoulder? He was obviously in a lot of pain.

It's like no one at these broadcaster offices watches and knows what is going on. Not the first time tonight. Up until this year I preferred watching GoYotes over MidCoSN. Seems that the quality has gone down quite a bit this year so now I’m back to MidCo. Wish it didn’t cut out as much as it does though.

First ten minutes were abysmal, but then I thought we took over the game during the middle twenty minutes. Last ten...meh, kind of coasted home. Half a game, 13 point win, it works. 85 points is an impressive total given that we were still in single digits with a little under ten minutes to play in the first half. That can't happen against the XDSUs or ORU on the road or we'll struggle to win. Webster got his, he's about as quick as they come and he's a terrific one on one player, but he seems to dominate the ball and the other players end up standing around watching too much. Western might be more effective if he'd get everyone else involved more. The Summit League should stop scheduling our home games on nights like this. It was just brutally cold with that wind. Hope those who were brave enough to venture out tonight didn't have any car trouble on the way home.

I know I decided to stay home too late to find someone in Vermillion or Yankton to use my tickets.

Impossible to schedule for weather. Need travel partners and more consistent scheduling.

Nice article! I might have to re-link it in the Summit Expansion thread...
