I'll take some of the blame for today's close game. Earlier today I was thinking that things have come pretty easy lately, and that could take their edge off. Even wondered if a close game or loss may help sharpen them for post-season. My bad.

I'm of the school of thought that close games now will sharpen them up for the rest of the season and the postseason. You can't simulate pressure free throws or pressure situations with a game on the line in practice (I know the drills, but it's not the same) and it's just fine that they have some adversity to fight through from time to time. Girls stepped up today when it counted. Great Win!

Gutsy win by the Lady Yotes!! Listened to the game on the radio. Didn't find a video stream. Amazing turn around from first Q (when Yotes led 21-5) to second (where they scored 14 and gave up 26). Sounds like refs really struggled and a lot of touch fouls. ORU had a lot of fouls first Q and USD 2nd. For those at game or viewing is that a fair statement? Yotes gave up a lot more points than recent SL games last 3 Qs. So was it more ORU hot and or USD D could have been better last 3?
In either case proud of the Yotes grit, determination and critical FTs at the end!!

I watched the game from the start. The officiating crew had never done a USD game ever. The physicality of the game got to be ridiculous. The crew as a whole was out of their league.
I don’t think most of us realize just how freakin tough it is to win this many games. ORU is a good team, and when the officiating took the tone it did, and you’re playing a good ( not great ) team, anything can happen. I would say for the first time we got a little tentative because they were wondering where the shoe was gonna drop the next time. Their bigs beat on ours pretty dang good and got away with the lion share of it. That happens from time time. We showed incredible poise and resilience down the stretch. This was a huge win....huge.
I think it prepared us well for our remaining games. We won a game where everything went against us....on the road. HUGE
I have no idea how the balance of the season will play out, but our gals are good enough to be a Sweet 16 team, and a punchers chance of better than that. Lastly, I’m not sure who was critical of Chloe Lamb, or if it even was meant as a criticism, but that young lady carried our team yesterday. That’s what the really cool thing about this team is that there are so many ways and weapons that we can beat people with, one never knows who’s gonna do it. A can beat you. B can beat you. C can beat you. And if A,B, and C are off like yesterday, then D or E can beat you. And if A-E are off, our defense can keep them in any game.
I’m not saying or predicting what will happen because it’s sports and anything can happen, but we have a real good shot at making a big run next month.

.. Didn't find a video stream. The stream from the ORU website wasn't working for me, either. Didn't mind listening to Thayer.

The stream from ORU started working midway through the second quarter, when the baseball game finished. For some reason, a preseason baseball game was much more important to stream than a late conference-season women’s basketball game. Even then, they didn’t have sound except for an occasional yell when one of their players scored.

Going forward this game is going to do a lot for our team in terms of refocusing. There were a few different factors involved in ORU keeping pace, a big one being the schedule simply favored them the most. Thankfully the last road trip now is to Brookings and that trip is a simple bus ride. But there comes a point I think when you can only win by so much for so long before you start to let your guard down. And this I think will serve as a wake up call for the team for the last few games and in the SLT. I took my mom to the Western Illinois game and she said even in that game that they didn’t seem quite as focused as they did previously. So this came at an ideal time to finish the season strong, IMO.

I didn't watch the game until the final 5 minutes or so, so I don't have any idea what happened but you don't really like to see a 9-20 A/TO ratio this time of year. Hopefully it's what they need to kick them into gear a bit, because if they come out with an effort like that in the NCAA's they're going home in a hurry.
