if NDSU coach isnt a moron and let's usd get a 11-0 run, I think NDSU would be running away.
USD was killing NDSU down low early then completely stopped... dont get that. but I'll take it

Hagedorn did not look right at all on that open 3. Seemed clunky in his motion.

Good lord these officials blow. Shahid falls over at the halfcourt line untouched, and he gets to shoot free throws.

Hagedorn is 3/10 tonight and out of sorts on defense. Clearly not well, and his team largely didn't pick him up besides Peterson. All that and NDSU still has to get a lot of good fortune to escape with a win. They've got a good record but just aren't a daunting team at all. I'll gladly accept the rematch in a couple weeks.
If Hagedorn and Kelley are able to get healthy in the next two weeks we are in the mix to win the tourney. If not, well...at least we have the women.

Coming into the year if you would have told me State was going to finish higher than us in the conference with what we each had returning I don't know if I would have believed you. We should be much better than this.

As much as Lee preached defense coming into his time here we really don’t know how to play it. NDSU’s good but they’re not great, we’re limping to the finish line and this makes me nervous for the SLT.

We should be much better than this. Our starting 5 has to be the best in the league. Not looking good right now though.

Good lord these officials blow. Shahid falls over at the halfcourt line untouched, and he gets to shoot free throws. A person always looks bad bitching about the officials but here goes anyway: that was the poorest officiated game that I can remember. It neither cost us the game nor gave it to NDSU but it was just so inconsistently called on what was a foul from one possession to the next. So many bad calls and non calls there is nothing and everything to point a finger at. If a fan can say that their team got screwed on this or that it's one thing, but if it's only one or two calls they're complaining about that's really a pretty well officiated game. This game was just all over the map and I don't think the players quite ever figured out what was going to be whistled and what wasn't I know we've had that one with no neck before and besides being arrogant he's just not good. It will be interesting to see if the Summit keeps him around next season because I don't recall seeing him before this year. I don't remember seeing the others before. This crew was simply in over their head. End rant which I would have written even if we had won.

I thought he was a bit slower and more tentative. After the game in Brooking this weekend he'll have a week off to heal and then another entire week so I think he should be at full speed by the tournament for sure.

There were so many things wrong with this game!
Players - Everyone of the starters but Peterson seemed to have an off game. Hagedorn and Umude played poor games. Cody Kelley had a nice couple of minutes, but otherwise was non-existent. Simpson was not even enough of a factor to even be memorable.
Officiating - Agree with all the other posters. It was so bad and inconsistent that neither team could figure how to to play. And at the end, the short referee took the game away from the players. He seemed to make every call at the end of the game. And what do you know, they all went against the Coyotes.
Coaching - This is the biggest one for me! I may be wrong, but I think Lee it a major part of this teams struggles. He has players that won the conference two years ago and now they struggle. Some of that is on the players, but his coaching is causing the team problems. Examples -
Game Management - The Coyotes trailed in the first half and subbed out the starters and subbed in Kamateros, Chisom and some others and they went on a small run to get the Coyotes back into the game. He immediately subbed them out and they lost the momentum. And then Kamateros never played again. In total, 3 reserved played 30 minutes. In a game where the starters we off and not playing well. I am really worried about next year, if we have no bench this year.
Demeanor - Lee is doing his team no favors with his constant berating of the refs. I watched him the whole game and from before the tip off it seemed he was riding them. He does this every game. I can't help but think that all the calls that went against the Coyotes in the last few minutes weren't in some part due to his treatment of the refs. We can all think the refs don't officiate that way, but they are never giving the Coyotes the benefit of the doubt.
Post game interview - Calling out players for playing poorly....not cool.
After almost 2 years, I see nothing that leads me to think that Lee is going to do anything to change or improve the team. I was lukewarm when he was hired. And I am even more convinced that we could have and should have done better.
Sorry for the rant. I am not a frequent poster, but I am a frequent reader of this board and appreciate all the insight it gives. I had very high hopes for this year with the players we have. But instead we are an under performing and poorly coached team.

I'm as guilty of it as anybody, but let's quit blaming the officials for the team completely self destructing. In the heat of the moment, I still find myself getting frustrated with the calls that don't go our way.
I mean, we watched a guy that was in the discussion for conference POY turn the ball over what was realistically 6 or 8 times. That's not the refs fault. Our whole offense for big stretches of the game was trying circus layups in transition. Again not the refs fault. Refused to defend the 3 point line, again. Refs didn't make us do that.
This is nothing more than a slump. The yotes just couldn't have picked a worse time to come back to earth.
