You might be right but I’m guessing it would be condensed. Maybe 4 or 8 max

You think there will be a basketball season? The only thing that changes anything is if a vaccine is found and widely distributed. Without that nothing changes and everything stays cancelled. Those are the new rules, we've gone from flattening the curve to total avoidance and elimination. Unless people come to the realization that we can't keep everything cancelled forever and life needs to go on. I would desperately hope basketball could at a minimum cancel non-conference and be ready to play Summit games as normal. It would coincide with the start of the Spring semester and I would hope campuses will be close to normal by then.

Even if we have a vaccine by 2021, it will be rationed to those at highest risk first. Then you’ve got anti-vaxxers, and possibly mutations. Eliminating it is very unrealistic.

I think just the opposite. If the NCAA doesn’t cancel FCS till spring then I believe Iowa state will choose USD to be their plus one. UNLV doesn’t want to come and Ball State has a Covid exit. The only potential hitch is if the Big 12 doesn’t start conference season till Sept. 26th and they don’t want to have 3 weeks between games. That being said, I’m thinking our 9/12 game in Flagstaff will get cancelled and our 9/19 home opener will also get cancelled. That would afford us the opportunity to schedule Iowa state in an acceptable time frame till then. I think there’s a great chance we will play Iowa state

If the NCAA suspends the season till spring we are done. No game in Ames. What I’m anticipating possibly happening is we will play a conference schedule but I’m guessing we won’t go to Flagstaff to play Northern Arizona or the first home game against Mesa State. If I’m correct, that would mean we don’t have to play iowa state on the 5th, we could play the 12th or 19th because the other games were cancelled. I interpret this as USD being totally flexible to accommodate Iowa State game. We could play the 5th, 12th, or 19th. Or Thursday under the lights and a national audience. Strictly my guess

Interesting. You think we would try to play Missouri State in the date we’re supposed to host Dixie?

They are scheduled for a conference game that day. We have 11/7 open and they play a non conference so that dates a possibility.
I think the NCAA is going to allow us to play IF the presidents of the schools sign off. I’m now hopeful we’ll play.

It’s a no win decision regardless.
Even if we waited until spring and had a vaccine at the first of the year, are college kids realized going to be first in line for it so they are protected against the virus? My sense is no...although it would cut down on risk of spectators bringing it into stadiums. But masks can help with that now. So I am skeptical about spring being a solution.

Division 3 and Division 2 Fall championships have been canceled.
FCS looks to be on the chopping block too as the NCAA has required a minimum of 50% of each division's institutions participate in the season in order for there to be a Fall championship. 6 conferences have already canceled their season, leaving only 75/127 programs still considering playing this year.
