Volleyball Season Ticket Renewals went on sale today!!! Although the schedule is not published yet there appears to be two home tournaments and as long as things go well (Covid) the Summit League Tournament will be played at the SCSC!!!

That's great news about the home tournaments! The "South Dakota Classic" tournament we have had for the last two seasons has brought in some great P-5 opponents to Vermillion. Having TWO home tourneys plus the VB SLT should prove to be a great home court advantage, provide more spectator opportunities for growing the fan-base, and maybe make the Athletic Department and local businesses a couple of bucks in the process.
I wonder if last year's successes and record attendance has helped them get that second tournament? All good things.

What will be interesting to see is which teams will actually venture out to South Dakota with all of the Covid stuff going on. I am hoping for some solid teams to come in.

I think teams would rather be coming to the Dakotas rather than Texas, Arizona, Florida etc.

I think teams would rather be coming to the Dakotas rather than Texas, Arizona, Florida etc. If students are on campus, USD (and every other college) will be importing kids from those states into housing where everyone lives on top of each other. Quarantining upon arrival isn't feasible at all either. I hope we get sports this Fall. It seems inevitable that students allowed on campus will be drastically reduced, at best. See Harvard's announcement from yesterday. They led the way in March by not letting students back after spring break.

I realize it only take one to be a spreader, but in reality how many students do we get from those states? I almost expect an explosion of cases in Brookings, Vermillion, Spearfish etc. when college resumes.

Honestly it doesn't matter so long as the Char Bar is open. If students are in town that place is going to be ground zero for the virus, and perhaps also breed a new pandemic entirely. Move over Covid-19, here comes Char-20! (if only this conversation were happening in 2030).

Do you think that hosting the tourneys/games in the dome would get teams/fans more comfortable? A couple thousand people in that giant space is almost as good as being outside. Wouldn't it be something if we end up with VB & BB back in the dome because of this virus....

Wouldn't it be something if we end up with VB & BB back in the dome because of this virus.... That's an interesting thought. I'm honestly surprised that I haven't heard of more sports venues trying to simply require mask use for fans, along with lower capacity. To me, that would make a huge difference. Who knows, anyway. Nothing would surprise me at this point. The experts can't even agree on how important aerosols are in transmission.
