Trying to be consistent about Monday morning rankings, even though we are mid-tournament....
SDSU punished a little for the upset loss makes sense. USD holding steady in the NET makes sense. USD dropping in the RPI by simply having to play ORU again is the RPI doing RPI things.
In other news, Omaha and WIU jumped up in both polls. The Semifinal today will be an interesting contrast in styles.

Wild and random thought: wouldn't it be fun if USD be played SDSU in an 8/9 or 7/10 game? My understanding is they are using a true S-curve to seed teams (no grouping by geography). Not sure if that also means the rules about facing a conference foe too early are out the window.

I can understand throwing out geography, but there will be some upset teams if they have to face conference foes in the first two rounds, I would think.

So here's the question: Would you rather see the Yotes with an 11, 10, or 9 seed? The 11 would possibly give a better shot at the sweet 16 (avoiding a 1 or 2 seed in the second round), but the 9 seed would give a better chance to getting that elusive first NCAA tournament win. Personally I'd like to see them get the best seed possible, and not worry about the second round game.

I think we're underrated as is. Typically in women's basketball there seems to be a steep drop off after the top 5 teams or so. On a good shooting night we can take down a 3-4 seed. That's why I'm kind of happy with our seeding.

That's why I'm kind of happy with our seeding. Agreed. I just did a tally that shows this, which I'll post in the tournament thread. Long story short, based on the previous 10 tournaments, an 11-seed has a 20% chance of making the sweet 16. That is much much larger than in the men's tournament.

i actually think beating Oregon might be as tough or tougher than beating georgia.
I am sure some of the people within the Ducks program are still feeling hunky dory about the last time the two teams meant. I still think that might be the best performance i have ever seen from a coyote team in any sport.
