Re: Midco+ (the $6/month stream service with 30 days free) I don't get why everyone is in a huff? EVERY media station with its own content is going to their own streaming. Why would they give it to ESPN? It's Midco's content, and they already have advertisers. In fact, the only reason I pay for ESPN+ is Summit League hoops and MVFC football - if I'm paying for one, it is Midco (and I'll drop ESPN+). I have DirecTV, and don't otherwise have access to Midco Sports.

My bad. Guess I didn't realize that was a thing. And I'm not in a huff about it now that I know they have their own streaming service. Will MVFC games be on the Midco+ this spring? I guess I don't care which service carries the Summit and MVFC but I hope they're all on the same one. I have no reason to sub to ESPN+ if all the games will be on the new midco thing.

glad to see the interest in midco app but anyone interested in talking about the product on the floor? Only 6 teams makes the summit tourney this year. Hope we can sneak in.

It just launched and a rep from Midco gave some details in this thread earlier today. I don't think it's known what to expect in the future as they are just now testing the waters.

Yeah I was pretty confused lol. Just hope it works on all platforms and I'm all in

I missed that memo.... they need a win here fast to gain some confidence and momentum otherwise I don’t think they’ll make top 6.

I have DirecTV, and don't otherwise have access to Midco Sports. I don't know what revenue Midco gets from having streams on ESPN. It's probably peanuts. I'm going to have that subscription anyways though, and it's frustrating when content leaves that platform and I have to pay more money. When push comes to shove, I'll wind up subscribing to the Midco service if they have exclusive game streams. I no longer live in Midco country and never had cable anyways. I just hope they do more games than before if they want a subscription fee. The whole thing is a deal breaker if I can't cast it to my TV though. I'm not gonna pay for a service to watch games on my phone. That's probably my biggest frustration given that Midco gave a free trial for this initial rollout and I haven't paid anything.

Midco gets zero dollars from ESPN for letting ESPN+ stream the games. MidcoSportsPlus will soon be available on Roku. For the time being, it is pretty easy to run an HDMI cord from my computer to my TV. Not ideal, but the first 30 days of MidcoSportsPlus are free.

Ya, the product is not looking good. We could be staring at a really, really bad record this year. We really needed this und game. Can't imagine we are getting one of these next two. And does anyone know whether we offered Paul bruns from Dakota valley? I see he signed with UND.

It was my understanding that we offered him last spring and I thought we had the inside track, but I guess not. Really don't know why anyone would want to spend a winter in Grand Forks.

Unfortunately we are stuck with what we have for 3 more years. This team is boring, doesn't play a modern style of basketball and has too many unknown or foreign players. All of that is ok if winning but if it is a losing team it is going to make for a team that very few are going to become interested in and many more will lose interest in. I am becoming the latter more and more every day.
It seems like with this program everything is done off the radar and it all started with the strange hiring of Lee. The recruiting has been puzzling and very underwelming. This is exactly what ya get when ya make an off the wall hiring and let the assistant AD make the choice. This problem isn't on Lee, it's on Herbster. Herbie should realize his mistake sooner rather than later and stop doubling down on his mistake.
In todays game you need shooters and the Coyotes barely have any if any. The only 2 good players on the team were one recruited by Smith and the other is only in Vermillion because of his mother.

With all the (justified) doom and gloom, it should be pointed out that Umude makes that shot and/or gets fouled 9 times out of 10 and the Yotes get a W.
They just need to catch a break so they can play with confidence for a while, then we can see what their upside looks like.

Reminded me of the game vs UND in last years opening round of the tournament. Both times we got the shot we wanted by a player that would make the shot 9 out of 10 times but neither shout would fall. Seems like we are anakebit.

Grand Forks winters aren’t great but it’s not like Verm is in the tropics either. I don’t want to act like GF is this metropolis booming city but Verm makes it seem like it is.

That's probably my biggest frustration given that Midco gave a free trial for this initial rollout and I haven't paid anything. Thank you for saying this. If you are going to roll out a new product and have the exclusive broadcast rights then maybe make sure to work out the bugs prior to this event. Not being able to cast from a mobile device, or have the app available on a smart TV or Roku at the time of the event, is ridiculous. Yes, it's possible to find an HDMI cord and run it from a laptop to a TV (if you happen to have a laptop that still has an HDMI port and an HDMI cord laying around), but you shouldn't have to do that. I am not a Midco hater. I think they do a great job of presenting the game and enjoy their on air talent. I also have no problem with Midco grabbing the event and charging to use their app. I'm more than happy to pay them $5.99 a month if their service is worth the cost. The current version is not. As to the basketball, we have to let this team go through growing pains. I hate losing as much as anyone else but to expect this many new faces to gel this early in the season isn't realistic. Let's see where they are in February. I agree missing out on Bruns hurts. Another local kid that will probably see excel in a different Summit jersey.
