I'll say it. Lee isn't the coach to get it done. Just not getting good vibes. There's something "off" with what's going on with the program. Not going in the right direction. I have to agree. Poor recruiting, so he has to backfill with transfers, so there will never be any long term continuity. 2 best players are a Smith recruit and a transfer who is the son of the women's coach. And coaching is sub par.....no defense, and I hear that is Lee's specialty?

I am actually becoming encouraged that there are more and more fans willing to come out and voice their displeasure for what is going on. We also need to stop the wait and give them more time to develop card. this is Lee's 3rd year. He had plenty of time to plan for this year. Just look at SDSU. They dont just throw away seasons and make excuses. They had every reason in the world to suck last year and won the Summit. Why should USD fans except alot worse.
Remember that a team and program will tend to perform to the expectations of the people around them and their supporters. If most people are ok with a bad year the team will probably have a bad year. Expectations are good and i am happy more and more are voicing their displeasure. Now lets do the same with football.

Whoa--Some of you need to get off the coaches' and team's backs and get behind them!! This basically is a brand new team with limited tuneup games and practices due to covid. This group has a lot of very talented players that just need to continue to gel as a team!
And remember in basketball it's not how teams start in the fall but how they finish in March that is most important!
GO YOTES!!!

i dont like to come to a message board after losses and hear how everything is gonna be ok. after a loss i like to hear bitching and moaning. that is what fans do. they love when things are going well but also cant stand losing and incompetance. standing for that will just invite it to reoccur.

people have been to easy on herbster. Lee is on him and he needs to own this. it was "a way off the grid hiring" and he needs to be accountable for this. most fans said "what" when the name Lee even came up. people had to convince themselves regarding their initial reaction. This season has been 3 years in the making. it is not by mistake. Lee is too old school. doesnt adjust to modern basketball.

damn plitzuweit needs to put on a coaching seminar 101 and make todd lee and nielson have to attend. she may be younger than both but she could probably teach them some things about togetherness, morale, expectations etc. she seems to really "get it". i know i would listen to her.

My 2 cents: Pros: I've hoped for improvement each game, and honestly that has happened. Stan and AJ are really really good. A third scoring option appears likely in Fuller/Archambault. Our bigs play with emotion. The offense movement is creating some open shots (not all isolation and 1v1). Three point shooting is back to normal, even pretty good at times.
Cons: When you are 0-5, it can be a long list. There seems (out of necessity) to be 2-3 guys on the court at all times that are D2 level players (as opposed to role players). The bigs play defense with their shoulders/chest, not their feet, so they will always be in foul trouble. It doesn't seem like the new players are comfortable on defense - the look like they are guessing what they should be doing. Generally, it is a pretty small team. Would like to see something to take advantage of being smaller (full court pressure, zone, half court trap, etc.). At this point points outside of Stan/AJ and one of Fuller/Archambault feel like a bonus, not an expectation. Not sure if we track +/-, but I would guess KPH has a staggering -, but is a starter.
The challenge for me is the the only fixable Con is some incremental improvements on defense. Hunter Goodrick would help if he returned, but that wouldn't solve a ton. There is a lot of unbalance nationally in how prepared teams are due to COVID - even Duke will take time to become Duke. And the Yotes had a notably bad pre-season with quarantines. Personally, I want to see how the team is playing in mid-January before being ready to show Lee the door, but will admit it isn't looking good right now.

Game related (not meant to put gas on the fire) - the technical by Lee seemed to take the air out of the player's comeback last night. And I think Lee knew it.

Lee's technical was inexcusable at that point in the game. Can you imagine if a player had done the same thing? We would be hammering him for such a selfish decision that may have cost them the game.
While SDSU did end up with a good year in summit play last year, they also had struggles early in the year. That was with a full summer together and a full non conference schedule. I'm not a Lee apologist, but to be fair to the players I think we need to wait until February to make judgements on the roster.

Lee’s T was definitely a bad look. But I would almost surmise that the game was lost in the final minute of the 1st half. Up 7, Lee calls timeout with his use it or lose it TO to set up a play and presumably go for a 2 for 1 heading into the half. They come out of it and turn the ball over, give up a bucket, fail to score, and give up another bucket. So now rather than at least being up 7 at half, you’re only up 4 and lost the momentum. NDSU then made the adjustments to attack and got themselves in the bonus with 12 minutes left in the game. (Sounds a lot like a Craig Smith strategy.). I feel like there was at least 2 other times in the 2nd half that they failed to get baskets out of timeouts. Just lacking execution and situational awareness.
Long story short, I think the lack of situational awareness is a symptom of 11 new players and lack of practice time. But my belief in Lee is waning as a recruiter.

this has been a really good discussion. In reality the biggest difference between USD and NDSU is that the Bison seem to have a knack for finishing games and getting wins whereas the Coyotes just dont have that mentality. It was NDSU's first win this year but they just seem to know how to win in crunch time. It is not all on Richmond but the Bison's style is well suited for close finishes in do or die tourney type games. If the Coyotes are gonna go small (and i dont mind teams that do this) they need to have an athletisism advantage or be able to hit the three or both. i dont see either. I actually dont think the Yotes have played horrible in this tourney but have probably fallen into the mediocre caregory.

My belief in his recruiting is more than waning I would say. At this point, the best player he’s gotten is AJ. I think AJ is going to be and already is a good summit league player. But, I don’t think that was a difficult recruitment. He’s basically striking out with HS kids up to this point, which is beginning to be a very big problem. Hard to build a program with just transfers. Needs to land at least 1-2 more hs guys for 2021.

Let's not forget a local kid who actually wanted to be a Coyote but was told no thank you. He ends up being freshman of the year and we have to watch him again tonight wearing another jersey. Every coach misses on players but that one may always haunt Lee.

Not saying I don't agree with many of posts over the last couple of days, but for the time being lets forget all of that. The best way to get the season turned in the right direction is to get a win tonight.
