The Sooners also drive the ball frequently which is drawing some help on defense and the pass is quick to the uncovered player. Oklahoma has more speed than normally seen in the Summit.

... Worst of all... the announcers insist on saying ki-YO-tees. Wichita State and Bradley can get that right, ... but not the "professional" announcers of the Big XII.... SMDH

OU fouls start adding up, now 2 players with 3. They only have 8 players, so could be a factor late.
Coyote offense opening up. Now down by only 8 (was 15 at the half)

50-55 OU after 3.
Coyotes outscored the Sooners 24-14 in the 3rd Quarter! It's a game, folks. Korngable with 4 fouls.

Now all three seniors have 4 fouls. Crap.
Now Sjerven out with 5.
5:48 left, but I don't know how we pull this out now.

Korngable fouls out at 1:20
Lamb out at 0:58
The game was called tight, but I wonder if we would have had to foul quite so much if we weren't playing catch-up all game. The 7-0 run by OU in the 1st was huge, I think.
Well, we can forget about getting any more votes in the polls. Gotta just take care of business in conference play.
Jacks just upset Mo State yesterday 60-52, so I'll guess they get back into at least the Coaches Poll.

Hansen had a career game with 15 points, and 4 rebounds. Good to see her emerge.
73-80 final

Big play early was Hannah picking up her 2nd foul with 5 minutes left in 1st Q. Was beat around basketball and hip checked player. Just can't do that and had to sit out most of 1st half. Every team we play will try to do that.
Lady Yotes hung tough but had a few scoring and defensive lapses. Often 3 freshman on floor so great lessons learned and good experience!
OU announcers talked a lot but provided very little important info such as how many fouls the player has.

Couple observations: - Hanna's 2 quick fouls were a result of OU having a strategy of going at her and daring the officials to call an offensive foul (head down, hook with elbow, etc.). It worked, and I would fully expect almost every team to do something similar early. Even if it is only called 50% of the time, that's a win for the other team. - The announcers - who were awful - mentioned that the team bused to Bradley and then bused to OU, getting to Normal last night. Is that right? If you are taking a bus, why in the world would you pick those two opponents (OU game was a recent add)? They certainly looked tired and disinterested in the first half. - Hansen is improving each time out - noticed her being in good spots on defense today. - I wonder if it is time to ask what happened to the sophomore class? - Officials were, well, it wasn't their best day. One was very whistle happy (maybe she wasn't used to physical basketball), and one may not have blown his whistle all day. Just generally felt like they weren't ready for either team to box out, post up, fight though screens, etc. The Yotes did not adjust to the style of game being called until foul trouble was already a problem. - First half shooting: oof.

This Coyote team does not move pass the ball as well as previous teams. They don't work hard enough for good shots and play a bit too much one on one ball. I think alot of that has to do with new faces but they need to work the ball for better shots. With Hannah in the middle they should be getting open looks all day but are not. Morgan Hanson is coming along. She is getting better every game. It seems like Watson wasn't a big factor today.
The Yotes need to work inside out and they should be able to run a very effective offense. That needs to improve. The D wasn't very good today but much of that has to do with OU just being hot from outside. The Yotes are a bit slower team than they have been but are more physical or at least should be.

I don't think it is just the sophomore class but the junior class as well.
Juniors
Sankey - does nothing Williston - hasn't had a chance yet
and that is it
Sophomores
Macy Guebert - there has been much postive with the Coyotes but this one is a real head scratcher Ugovsky - maybe injured but she is not making the impact I though she would Peplowski - pretty much a non contributer Hempe - hasn't been doing much either
It is so strange to have 2 consecutive classes that aren't really doing much at all.

Sheesh. Lighten up, CF.
Not a great effort yesterday but understandable. Going 3-3 in that non conference slate with the roster turnover they were looking at is hardly disastrous or unexpected.
I don’t know how many times I have to say this but you lost some pretty good players. The kinds of players who did lots of things both seen in the box score and unseen.
I think maybe it started with a lot of unrealistic talk of at large NCAA berths but this team is going to need a little time to settle in and find its own identity and frankly just grow and season a bit. Nothing wrong with it, they’ll be very competitive and once again be right in the mix for a Summit title.
Just enjoy the ride and the stories and entertainment these kids are providing. They’ll be fine. They may even end up being great. If you’re slapping panic buttons now I can’t even imagine trying to talk you off the ledge next year.

Yes, they travelled a grueling 5 day bus trip (no flying due to Covid) and split the trip to OU with a stop half way. It has been brutal for them to be on the bus so much. The odd subbing and the snubbing of the junior and sophomore class is well, just odd...especially if you knew what and who was contributing in practice. The juniors and sophomores are JUST as capable of contributing but not given the chance at the random minutes some others have received. Subbing this season is not at all consistent with the way Coach P typically does things and is not as outwardly methodical looking as it has been the past years. But do not doubt this....ALL of the players on the bench are very capable of contributions.
