a two-day series with the Mavs on Friday/Saturday @7pm - televised on MidcoSN and streamed at GoYotes.com Article LINKMassey has us winning 77-67 Omaha's last 5 games: L @ Kansas St-58-60 L vs ORU-------83-95 L vs ORU-------75-86 L @ NDSU------69-71 L @ NDSU------66-80 Those Ls don't look good, but they have certainly played a tougher conference schedule than we have. We shouldn't look at any conference game as a gimmie, but I like our chances here.

From the article:
Seems like Pile has been there as a standout player for a while. If I remember right, he is an undersized but very tenacious forward/ center.

Oh, right. Here's why I remember Pile:
for the 2019/20 season:
....Summit League Defensive Player of the Year
...All-Summit Honorable Mention
...Averaged 11.6 points, 10.0 rebounds and 1.5 blocks per game
...Only Summit League player to average a double-double
...Summit League leader for rebounds per game, total rebounds, offensive rebounds, defensive rebounds and blocks
...Finished with a team-leading 11 double-doubles for the year...

These could be a tougher than expected couple of games. Pile, Ruffin and Tut are legitimate all conference type talents and UNO has lost several close ones this season. They'll certainly play hard to try to get off the schnide in conference play. I would imagine our players will be happy to play on the home floor again. Keep up the hot shooting and great defense that's put them in the position in conference that they are now in and dare to dream of a 8-0 start in confernce play. When's the last time that's happened?

This doesn't seem like a great matchup for us - hope our bigs can stay out of foul trouble.

Pretty impressive first half - its the kind of thing we are used to seeing the WBB team do. Not sure it has been brought up before, but Stan is pretty good at basketball.

Very impressive first half and kind of cruise control in the second, although UNO did get hot from behind the arc for awhile after the break. I think they hit three in a row at one point. Defense was tremendous in the first half especially on Pile. He didn't get a shot up for the first 12 minutes of the game and was even denied many touches. Great job by the post players. Tomorrow night will be a battle; I don't think Omaha will go down twice very easily. These fast starts are sure nice to see. This is really turning into an exciting season. Team plays well together, getting contributions from many different players and they seem to be having fun. Lot of season left, but it should be a fun ride.

I don't care how good or bad Omaha is, that was a nice win. I was reading the Jacks board and one poster just couldn't believe how bad Omaha was. Maybe just maybe he forgot that just 1% credit out of 100 might just go to the Coyotes. LOL. Or maybe not and Omaha was responsible for all 100% of how the game went. It is just so funny how the Jacks fans are reacting to this Coyote resurgence. They are in denial that the head to head game was more than just a fluke. It was more of a sign of things to come. Now I am not saying the Coyotes are gonna go into Frost and just take it to the Jacks, but it can now be safely assumed that for Jacks fans these two games got quite a bit tougher over the course of the last couple of months. It is no longer a foregone conclusion that the Jacks will win both. I bet they would be down right concerned if any of those games were in Vermillion.
Am I the only one or does this conference season feel like playing with house money. I hope the Coyotes continue to play like it is a gift to them just being able to suit up and play this year. Nothing is a given in this world anymore.

UNO came ready to play, and got hot. (they made 12 out of 13 at one point) The Mavs shot 59% from 3 and 57% overall. Fortunately, the Yotes shot it even better (61%). Picked up the win 97-93 to go 8-0 in SL.
Contrast that with the NDSU/UMKC game. KC won 49-47, and outshot NDSU 36% to 35%. That's a rock fight.

Beating a team twice in consecutive games especially on back to back nights is a tough task so it's an tremendous accomplishment that the 'Yotes are four for four in doing so. Speaks highly of both the coaching staff and players to game plan, execute and stay focused. Omaha came to play tonight; shot lights out, but then so did we. I like that Lee went to a zone with about seven minutes left as it seemed to really mess with UNO's offensive flow for a few possessions and allowed us to get some separation later in the second half. Kudos to Fuller too as he was instrumental in that late run by hitting four shots in a row including two three pointers. Umude and Plitzuweit are the constants, but it's great to see different players stepping up every game with key contributions on offense. Zizic really played well also. With four more years of development he could really become a force. I think he has a very high ceiling.

My gosh this Coyote team is playing with so much poise right now. The close wins that have happened over the past month or so are really paying off and helping this team believe that they are gonna win every time they take the court and every time the game is close in crunch time. I just loved the emotion AJ showed after he made a tough driving basket. This team is really bonding right now. The role players are doing their jobs and that is great. But man oh man are we lucky to have Umude and AJ right now. I am not around the team and many probably aren't that are reading this board but one has to wonder what AJ being added to this team has done for team chemistry. I noticed he was smiling at the refs quite a bit during the second half of the game. He seems like a positive influence.
So now the real race begins. at SDSU, at UND, vs ORU and vs NDSU. The Coyotes will now find out even more out about themselves. As long as they stay humble I think they will be ok.

Nothing is a given in this world anymore. I find it funny when you see the Jack’s fans talking about our 8-0 record being fraudulent because of the teams we’ve played. If you look at their 4-0 conference record they’ve beaten Omaha and UND, with games against Western and Denver postponed in between, both of whom we’ve beaten. Then comparing UMKC to UND, as the only unique opponents, there is only a one game difference and they split their series in Grand Forks.
