This weekend the Yotes tangle with the Omaha Mavericks. Yote fans remember them well from when they knocked the Yotes out of the most recent Summit League Tournament. The Mavericks have a record of 3-3 (Conference 2-2) having split with Denver and Kansas City.
Sadie Limback and Anna Blaschko lead the Mavericks in both offense (kills) and defensive (blocks) and the Maverick's Libero is top notch.
The Yotes come into the match with a 3-3 (Conference 2-0) with a bit of confidence having beaten a nationally ranked team in Creighton.
The Yotes are hitting at a slightly higher rate .224 vs .159 and service aces are 50% higher.
How the Yotes block and dig will likely be the difference in these two matches.
One final note: Outside of the one loss from Creighton(nationally rank - #14) which was 2-3 the other losses the Yotes suffered in the first two matches of the season their combined record to date 15-1. That one occurred in the same tournament.
As I have vowed not to make predictions of the outcomes of the matches, I have to believe the Yotes remember what happened the last time these two teams met and will want to change the outcome.

Also Omaha’s setter is one of the best in conference as well. They will be a tough opponent. Glad these matches are at the SCSC.

One way we lose. That’s if we don’t pass well. If we pass ok or better UNO can’t handle our left sides. It’s that simple

The Yote defense forced Omaha into 25 hitting errors and the Yotes had 11 total blocks against a very good offense. The Lady Yotes hit at .247 vs .064. The is a stifling defense. Message sent to the Mavericks. Now onto Monday to see if we can repeat the performance. Yotes win 3-0 Great Job Yotes!!!!

The Yotes took a tough defeat last evening versus a good Omaha team. Omaha found a weakness and exploited it to take a 3-2 win. The Yotes will need to go back to the gym and work hard to get better and come out on Sunday and go 1-0. I was at the match and I believe they had their chances but lost their composure in some key stretches. Every team will run into those but the good ones find ways to overcome and I truly believe they will. Go Yotes!!!

First regular season conference loss since Oct 30th 2018. Snapped a 22 game winning streak. It will be interesting to see how this team responds with NDSU and SDSU up next.
