Well, this team is waking up to a new reality today. I'm sure it is has been a really tough and emotional 12+ hours for the guys. Unfortunately, they only get 1 game to figure out that new normal, and it comes with Archambault and Zizic already hurt (and a conference title on the line).
KPH started the year running the point, and I suspect he will today, but he won't have AJ or Mason on the wing to throw it to. So teams will either deny the first pass (knowing it generally won't be to a shooter) or play back and clog up driving lanes. It will just make Stan be more involved and having the ball flow through him, even if it isn't just to score. It may also require Fuller to look to shoot more. He is certainly a capable scorer, but has been focused primarily on defense.
Odds are certainly stacked against the team today, but I fully expect Stan to rise to the occasion and lead the team. I wouldn't be surprised by a low scoring W today (NDSU seems befuddled by the zone). I'll try not to think about SLT ramifications for now.

A big thank you to Dr. Jeremy Kudera for helping out with AJ on the floor yesterday. Helluva asset sitting courtside.

Just saw what happened to AJ. Sure hope he is ok and it looked worse than it was cause it certainly didn’t look good. If it is as bad as it looked hopefully he can make a full recovery and be back ready to go next year.

Win today and it's the 1 seed. Lose and it's the 2 seed.
We all know 3 days in March settle the real prize, but I'd be happy to get some additional hardware today. Something to help illustrate the progress Lee and his team have made during the weirdest time of our lives.

Dislocated knee... don't know if it can get much worse than that.

Is it known if there was any nerve or arterial damage? If it was ligament tears only he should play again. I feel bad for him. He and his family personify what a university would want from the faces of their programs.

NDSU leads 40-37 at halftime.
Umude came to play. He has 27 points already. However, Kamateros has 8 and Fuller has 2, which is alarming to see so little sharing in the scoring. After Umude and Kamateros the rest of the team is a combined 0/5 from the field.

Proud of what this team has accomplished this year after things looked pretty sketchy to start the year. If AJ doesn’t get injured we likely win this game again today. Out rebounded big time and 12-1 disadvantage in second chance points in a 12 point loss. Will be interesting how they play in the tournament with a week practicing without AJ. Need players to step up offensively like Kruz and Xavier. Kudos to the team for the hard work they have put in this year.

I agree with Lynn. This team look pretty rough early in the year. Tremendous turnaround in the conference season. Had no idea AJ was that good. Kinda a head scratcher why he was recruited right out of high school. Hopefully, they continue to play well at the SLT. Go ‘Yotes.

This is what I heard today from what I would consider a reliable source: He has a torn ACL and LCL along with a sprained MCL. There didn't seem to be any nerve or arterial damage as far as could be determined. It'll take some serious rebab, but if anyone is up to the task, he'd be the one. Here's hoping for a full recovery and the continuation of a stellar career.

That is good news if there is such a thing. Reminds me of what Teddy Bridgewater went through about 5 years ago, but not as severe if I remember it right. I think Teddy tore all 4 ligaments. I have no doubt that he will attack the rehab with everything he has. He should have a good chance of making it all the way back. I would question if he is back for the start of next season but I think the standard acl is about 8 months. It isn't out of the question if everything goes as planned. My heart goes out to him and I know the usd community will give him all the support they can.

I was told that AJ did have multiple D-1 offers, but chose Augie because he wanted the opportunity to play for a national championship. I don’t know if USD offered him out of HS or not, but I was also told we can thank President Herseth for the uncertainty that led to AJ’s transfer. Just what I’ve heard.

He flat out told Mark O & Mike H last month he was very clear with Augie he wanted no part of a transition period. So when they announced intentions to go D1, he bolted. Also don’t believe Craig recruited him, but know NDSU offered and wanted him pretty badly.

Thankfully no artery and nerve damage as mentioned. While it's not quite as severe as Teddy's, it's probably closer to Teddy's than a standard ACL. We are probably looking at 18 months rehab. He's certainly going to do everything he can to make it back. I really hope he will be able to play again, for his sake. Nobody wants to go out like that. Feel terrible for him.
