Wowza. How does this make sense? Learned under Brewster, whose teams got progressively worse. Then fails to qualify for the SLT in the 1 year at the helm. SMH.

Sounds like TJ will be going to ISU I can't find anything official, but someone updated his Wikipedia page already lol I would say this flies in the face of the concept that a Summit coach couldn't move into a power 5 job. It's a unique situation since TJ has history at Iowa State, but he surely didn't earn this job from his time at UNLV, and his only other stop as a head coach was in the Summit. Yoteforever is conspicuously quiet, so something is afoot!

Nothing official from Wisconsin WBB. But if any of you want to follow that opening, Buckyville is a very active Badgers message board. Here is a relevant thread: www.tapatalk.com/groups/buckyville/next-wbb-coach-wishlist-t103390.htmlThere is, of course some discussion of Dawn, along with many other potential candidates. Also some interesting debate over what a reasonable expectation is for a turnaround of Wisconsin WBB, or how difficult or easy that would be. And how attractive that job is. My thought is that turning around a P5 school with a poor recent history would be a tough job due to the stiff competition they would be fighting in their conference, and the expectation to cast a wide recruiting net. Amy Williams is a proven coach and recruiter, but she has had her struggles at Nebraska. Dawn and her mentor Kevin B. already went through a similar turnaround at Michigan (by her own account), and when it was finally producing fruit after five seasons of building, the coach abruptly quit and went back to Green Bay. Dawn wasn't specific on Borseth's exact reasons, but there are plenty of pressures at a P5 school that are less of a problem at mid-majors (pushy boosters, prima donna players, media scrutiny, shorter leash from admin, etc.) Both Amy and now Dawn (and Ryun and Chad before that) have helped create a winning culture at South Dakota that is somewhat self-perpetuating (to some extent). Certainly a bad hire could hurt that, but if Dawn leaves, I would think the position would be a sought-after one. 1.Supportive administration and fans 2.Good pay for a mid-major 3. League-leading facilities 4. Stacked roster 5. Fertile recruiting region 6. Tradition and culture of winning 7. History of producing P-5 coaches 8. Conference that has produced at-large bids 2 of last 3 years

It seems to me that the skillset that is needed for a turnaround is far different than the skillset needed to 'take the next step'. Nebraska was a dream job for Williams, so that was a no-brainer, but I don't think it fit her skillset. Some coaches in the twilight of their career try a turnaround (Mack Brown to UNC in FB sticks out), but they have another level of grace from fans/donors. I can see Coach P being interested in the job if the goal is to get back to WI. I can also see her saying 'call me when it isn't a turnaround situation'.

She’s here for the long haul. She’s a Coyote I felt AJ staying was indicative. You never know, but a strong sign.

Kiyoat is there talk of you loosing your coach or is it pure speculation on your board. The talk at UND Chaves didn't want to make three years of changing coaches but i think there is split in the fan base for UND on this coaching hire. Old guard at UND rallied around Bernhard and former coach Roebuck pushing for her at UND. Chaves since he has come to UND has let women's program slide backwards because when we left the Big Sky we were coming off conference championships and going to NCAA tournament but now we can't even qualify for the conference tournament. His priority is keep hockey program top 5 program in the nation which is good but at what cost to other programs at the school. Second are we entering new era in sports now where mid majors are just going to be development or farm system for the power 5 schools. Were seeing large movement now in our top talent at looking to move on to better programs. I see it also at other schools in the Summit conference there's loss of talent more than normal

There have never been any substantiated rumors or anything. Never know, but I'd be surprised if she left.

Yeah, on coach P we on this board sometimes just keep our ear to the ground on potential hires because we assume she will be a candidate for certain jobs. The Wisconsin job is of particular concern due to her being from there, and we have recruited athletes from that state as well. No inside information, all speculation. (Hey, it’s officially the off-season, why not?)
On mid-majors becoming a farm system I’ll agree with you as it relates to men’s basketball, but I don’t see it happening to women’s sports as much. If Your coach is a good recruiter I think you can build something up there.

I read someplace that the Badger's salary offer for whoever they selected as new WBB coach was going to be substantially less than they were paying Tsipis

It is so nice to have a great coach and life teacher is Coach P. I thin every coach at USD could learn something from her. Could we possible allow her to coach football as well. She couldn't do much worse than we have seen lately. I know for one the team would play hard and be organized.
