This is great news, not just for the SD schools, but for the whole conference. I'm a firm believer that it wouldn't be a hot ticket in the twin cities or KC or any of the larger markets and attendance would really suffer.

Yeah, the new League Commish would catch all kinds of hell for moving the tournament and presiding over the drop in attendance that would undoubtedly follow. Good news for the League.

The new commissioner should have their own ideas and way of running things, but tampering with the conference's crown jewel shouldn't happen until they've been on the job for a couple years.

I am all for fairness over money but I am in the minority. I think the Summit Tourney should not be in Sioux Falls every year. But since it will be the Coyote attendance has been getting better every year and that should continue. Now how about the Men start doing a little better considering the home crowd advantage that they also have. The Women are starting to get this tourney thing figured out now.

I would argue that there isn't much of an advantage for the Coyotes in Sioux Falls. The idiots in blue make up 75% of the attendees and they're all cheering against us anyway. On the women's side, the yotes are just that much better.

Dear valued Summit League supporter,
You are receiving this email because you purchased a two-year ticket(s) for the 2020 and 2021 (good for 2022 due to pandemic) Summit League Basketball Championships and we wanted to provide a few ticketing updates for the future Basketball Championships.
Due to the continued growth and changes within The Summit League’s membership since 2016, when the two-year ticket option was first announced, we are now in a position to offer each of our members and their fan bases more opportunities to purchase a wider variety of tickets to our premier events. Therefore, the two-year ticket option will no longer be available once the 2022 Championships are completed.
The Summit League will continue to provide unique ticket packages, at various price points for future championships starting with the 2023 edition.
We understand this will be an adjustment for many of you, so we will be offering a limited presale window for the current two-year ticket holders following the 2022 Championships to purchase tickets for the 2023 edition. More information on this opportunity will follow in the coming months.
If you have any questions please feel free to contact Summit League Assistant Commissioner of Marketing and Championships, Bryan Miller, at miller@thesummitleague.org or 605-275-3068.
Thank you again for your support and we look forward to welcoming you “Back To The Dance” on March 5-8, 2022 at the Denny Sanford PREMIER Center to continue the celebration of the Summit League’s 40th Anniversary.

Do you suppose this is happening because Douple is gone? I mean, basic reasoning would tell you that there are only a few teams are left from 8 years ago, so it is obviously time to re-start seating, but basic reasoning hasn't always been on display.

I mean, basic reasoning would tell you that there are only a few teams are left from 8 years ago, so it is obviously time to re-start seating, but basic reasoning hasn't always been on display. Occam's razor would suggest it... although I also wonder if the administration of St. Thomas, or Kansas City asked an obvious question of the Summit League (i.e. why do our fans not have access to good seats at the tournament?), precipitating things. I thought that UND's addition would have done that, but it took a bit longer. Or maybe the pandemic just provided an opportunity to do this? Either way, this is the right thing. I'm sure that some fan bases will still complain about being forced to go to po-dunk Sioux Falls, despite this new opportunity. But at least they will have a fair chance to build up their own fan section in a conspicuous part of the arena. And I guarantee there will be pissed off Jacks fans. And that is also a good thing. My guess is that unsold tickets from, say, the Western Illinois or Kansas City section will be made available to the general public. That would be smart. Jacks and Yotes fans will likely be the first in line for those. And there will still be plenty of good seats for the longtime SLT attendees. It will be fun seeing if St Thomas or one of the ND schools is able to get a nice section going. It will probably depend on year-to-year success of their team. No reason to punish them for that, though.

The change is also likely to create some premium seating for the Premier. I would expect the 2023 prices to reflect the demand on the price points indicated in the letter. "The Summit League will continue to provide unique ticket packages, at various price points for future championships starting with the 2023 edition." This is likely to bring a chorus of those who oppose premium seating in most settings. Normally the most may be unhappy about the lack of opportunity for the best seats for the same price. The walk up buyer for 1 game/day finds it difficult to sit in the good seats. As many, I expect to have a chance for the complete bundle that keeps me watching all games every year.

Let the schools sell the tickets to each of their fan bases and those schools that don't sell their allocation can go back to public purchase.

Let the schools sell the tickets to each of their fan bases and those schools that don't sell their allocation can go back to public purchase. The allocations for schools is a relatively small number of the total tickets sold and normally those tickets would be the seats behind the team during the game the team is involved. After that, the team ticket is not any particular seat. The session tickets are the lion's share of ticket sales which do not involve the tickets for seats behind the team. You can also plan to buy session tickets for all games in order to lock in a spot. Individual game tickets will likely be the last ticket sold before walk up sales. The tickets will be sold before we know the seedings. Also, consider the idea that this is a perfect time to increase ticket revenue for the facility and conference with "premium" seating defined in the arena.

Every other conference tournament resets every year, it was time.
The timing of Douple's retirement seems odd to me.
