It was recently announced that Belmont would be leaving the OVC and joining the MVC in 2022.
There is a fair amount of speculation that Murray State will also join the MVC, but they need to figure out what to do with their football program with the MVFC being the likely eventual destination.
There is also a speculation that Western Illinois may leave the Summit/MVFC and join the OVC. It would be a more regional fit for the Leathernecks, but the OVC has already lost 4 members within the past year, and it may soon be 5 if Murray State leaves.
Interesting times.

WIU would be idiots to join the OVC at this point. That conference is about to be defunct.

You don't need to be an elite FCS program to go FBS, just ambitious. I don't think the FCS has lost a bell cow to the FBS since 2013 when Appalachian State and Georgia Southern moved. Every other team that went FBS was either unremarkable at FCS or entirely new. Missouri State could do it if they wanted. I'm sure odd places like Southeast Louisiana could do it too.
The elite programs are smarter to stay FCS though. Go to the playoffs, not the Papa John's Bowl.

I don't understand what the AAC is doing there. Not going after LaTech, Southern Miss, WKU, and Marshall? What's left of CUSA is better than the dregs that make up the AAC now. Nobody is leaving the Sun Belt at this point, that conference is better than the AAC and CUSA right now.

I can't believe no one is going after UConn, UMass, or New Mexico State! Real hot commodities out there in the independent ranks!
(sarcasm...I just am baffled these schools have FBS football programs still. Idaho saw the writing on their wall)
