I was very critical of Nielsen in the beginning of the season, his results in the spring and previous years weren’t stellar minus the the strevler year. That being said this season did surprise me and I’ll admit I was wrong. Whatever transpired from spring to fall I hope it’s here to stay. But while I am optimistic for next year, I have to remain cautious so I’ll circle back to this at the end of the 2022 season. I’m very excited for what I think is ahead but I do think we need to see if it’s able to be replicated next year or built upon.

The improvement from Spring to Fall was noticeable and I believe set a new plateau to climb further still.
There were many parts to this, but I was thinking about the fact that the D coordinator has had the opportunity and time to build his system. The defense was solid for good parts of the season. Also, the D line coach added, if I remember correctly, between the Spring and Fall seasons, has produced real results. I think we have a good Defensive coaching group and that we may be building something special on that side of the ball.
Like everyone has mentioned, we have some big shoes to fill with some key seniors moving on, but Coach Nielson seems confident that we have a lot of players waiting to step in. Looking forward to it!
