I, for one, can't even begin to comprehend how this goofy looking kid is going to command a 7-figure sum in exchange for his image. It is beyond reason. You would have to anticipate him being an immediate star that people recognize (without the team logo accompanying him) and then put him in ads nonstop during the season to get any sort of return on that investment (especially given his limited remaining eligibility).
Unless I'm missing something, NIL seems like an easy way for boosters to directly give money to recruits under the flimsy premise of a sponsorship deal.

Seems like that's exactly what it is. If you've got a billionaire alumnus somewhere who likes to sniff jocks, you're in luck.

Clearly he doesn't know the difference.... between Wright and Wong. Also, he wouldn't be able to transfer there as a package deal with his little brother.... Two Wongs don't make a .... never mind. I'm done.

NIL and the transfer portal combined with the NBA not having any college requirements has ruined college basketball.

Fair collegiate athletics as we know it died when they allowed the NIL. It became the haves and have nots.

It's always been the haves and have nots. Now the haves just get to do it within some apparent framework of rules, I guess.
And in all honesty, the NIL probably makes it "fairer." USD just has to crank out a billionaire or two. Get enough boosters together and anybody can pony up, right?
Somebody get Billy Gassen on the phone and tap that Sanford money.

NIL and the transfer portal combined with the NBA not having any college requirements has ruined college basketball. None of the pro leagues have college requirements. You just have to be a certain age or so far removed from high school. NBA has been actively going at high schoolers to play on their farm team, but that makes less sense now that they can get paid more in college.
