I'd much rather get rid of the FBS game off the schedule every year instead of a high level FCS. I get it's a money thing and it helps the athletic department so it's kind of necessary, but if we're concerned about wins, let's quit scheduling P5 schools.

Nobody will be at the Dome for a road game at Montana either. I see your point but there should be a balance in the schedule to position it for a playoff berth. I'd like to say that we should just take on all comers. I don't think NDSU fans would be having this type of conversation, but I'll admit we're not at that level yet and we need to help ourselves a little until we can get to the level. But speaking of NDSU, have you all taken a look at what their OOC schedules have looked like the last several years? Or SDSU's? They don't schedule near as difficult as we have. part of the xdsu's scheduling comes from FBS schools not wanting to play them anymore, though. It's a lose/lose for them. If the FBS team wins it doesn't look great because they're playing an FCS team. If it's close or God forbid they lose, it's the end of the world since you lost to an FCS team, even if they're damn good. Pump the brakes on that. SDSU is playing Iowa and NDSU is playing Arizona. Arizona is terrible and I fully expect NDSU to win that game. NDSU has been the FBS killer. SDSU, not so much. SDSU is 2-9 all time against FBS opponents, beating Colorado State (3-9) last season 42-13 and Kansas (0-12) in 2015, 41-38. SDSU hasn't exactly had the same success against the FBS that NDSU has. Hate it when they get lumped in together as "the same".

The new schedule pods of the MVFC should help to make our schedules a little easier in the future. Because we will keep UND & SDSU on our schedule every year. So we only play NDSU 1/3 seasons starting in 2023.
I kinda feel like our schedule for 2022 might be one reason we haven’t heard about an extension for Bob. Is it possible Admin will move off him if we go 4-7 again and don’t want to be locked in?

Has it been explained anywhere? I thought we were in a pod with the other 3 Dakota schools?

It'll be a gauntlet, but you have to keep the Dakota 4 together playing every year

Herbster indicated that with a 12-team conference, the only teams USD will play every year are SDSU and UND. They will play six of the other nine teams each year, with the other three cycling off the schedule every two years. So from 2023-2028, they'd play NDSU (and the other 8 teams) four times. Of course, we will see how long there will be 12 teams in the conference.

The Analyst (an FCS publication) lists all 130 FCS schedules by difficulty based on FBS/FCS opponents win loss records from 2021-2022. Youngstown is 4th, Coyotes are tied for 6th with Western IL with all other MVFC teams in the top 47 except the bizon who are ranked 109.

That's why they are way down at 109. (Guaranteed actual response if you put the quoted post in front of a group of NDSU fans)

NDSU plays UND & SDSU as their 2 to play every year I believe. SDSU has NDSU & USD. USD plays SDSU & UND.
