Conference race is getting interesting, SDSU did us a major favor last night beating NDSU in Fargo. Yeah, the Jacks likely will get that last 6-seed spot. Not clinched, but I like their chances. It would be tough for them to move up to a 5-seed at this point. We are now 1.5 matches ahead of Omaha and NDSU (tied), with possibly the easiest remaining schedule among that group. I wouldn't want to jinx anything, though. We wouldn't have to play SDSU until a final with us at 1 and them at 6. We would play the winner of the 4/5 match in the semifinal (probably Denver or UND). If things ended today, this would be the first round: 6-SDSU vs 3-NDSU (winner plays 2-Omaha) 5-UND vs 4-Denver (winner plays 1-USD)

An Omaha v USD championship match in Omaha would be a whole lot of red for both sides.

With just 3 or 4 conference matches left of the regular season, things are still similar to last week.In the Top tier, (USD, Omaha, NDSU, Denver, UND) Omaha and Denver have moved up to the #2 and #4 seeds, respectively. This 5-team group is now a lock for the 6-team tournament. The Yotes's lead for regular season has increased a little, and now have a 1.5-game lead over Omaha (thanks Jacks!). The remaining schedule still favors the Yotes, and there are still quite a few impactful matches left among the top-tier. In the Middle tier, SDSU has claimed a 2-match lead on the other two for 6th place, and now has an outside chance of even jumping UND for a 5-seed. The Roos will have hard time jumping the Jacks, as the Jackrabbits appear to be good hoppers, too. ORU is technically still in it, but..... better luck next year, Roos...
Mock Tournament: #6 Jacks vs. #3 Bison (winner plays #2 Mavs) #5 Hawks vs. #4 Pios (winner plays #1 Yotes)
FWIW: I have no interest in playing the Jacks in the second round. They are playing their best ball right now. Have fun with that, Mavs!

Thanks Kiyoat for all of the work throughout the season! It’s very exciting to see a couple more Summit teams becoming more competitive. If they can translate that into some quality non-con wins we have a real chance of the summit becoming a well known volleyball league. I think the Tourney in Omaha this year could really showcase that too.

* = clinched Summit Tournament spot ** = clinched first round BYE (top-2 seed) $ = still eligible for regular-season championship With just 2 or 3 conference matches left of the regular season, here is how things sit:
The Yotes have now clinched a top-two seed and BYE in the tournament. They are in first and are two matches ahead of the Bison, with three matches left. Denver could guarantee a Yote championship with a win on Saturday over NDSU (plus a Yote win over ORU). Or the Yotes could take it more directly against the Bison on Thursday. Or they could beat ORU, lose to NDSU and win against UND on Saturday. Lots of options. It's down to a Bison-Coyote Brawl....The Mavs were knocked out of contention for a regular-season title by the 5-set loss to the Bison yesterday. Now it can only be Vermillion or Fargo to host next year. The Mavs could still take the 2-seed back from the Bison, however. The Jacks can clinch a spot in the playoffs with just one more win out of their last three matches. (@kc , UND, NDSU) Mock Tournament: #6 Jacks vs. #3 Mavs (winner plays #2 Bison) #5 Hawks vs. #4 Pios (winner plays #1 Yotes)

* = clinched Summit Tournament spot ** = clinched first round BYE (top-2 seed) $ = clinched regular season championship With just one more weekend of conference matches: The Yotes have now clinched a regular-season championship, 1-seed and hosting for 2023!The 2-seed and first-round BYE in the Summit League Tournament is still up for grabs between Omaha, NDSU and Denver, who are all 1/2 game apart. NDSU plays their last two matches at the two SD schools on Thursday and Saturday. Denver plays at Omaha to close out the season tomorrow (Tuesday) night! tie-breakers:NDSU would win any tie, due to their win over USD earlier in the season. Denver would win a tie with Omaha due to Omaha's loss to SDSU in the first weekend. (their records are identical vs USD, NDSU and UND, so the Omaha/SDSU match is the tie-breaker.) With Denver appearing to play much better recently, it is shaping up into a four-team race, with two strong dark-horses.... Both UND and SDSU are guaranteed either the 5 or 6-seed. All the Tournament spots are locked up! It's time for these teams to focus and lock it in....All of the final matches are between SL Tournament teams, so they are simply for seeding. However, they offer a preview for what to expect in the tournament Mock Tournament: #6 Jacks vs. #3 Bison (winner plays #2 Mavs) #5 Hawks vs. #4 Pios (winner plays #1 Yotes)

Wouldn't be surprised to see SDSU end up as the 5 seed and UND as the 6.

Wouldn't be surprised to see SDSU end up as the 5 seed and UND as the 6. Me either. Although, UND has proven to be a salty team at times. Both teams have been up and down. If they tie by record, a tie-breaker could go either way, depending on how they got there. If SDSU beats UND straight up, they win the head-2-head. If SDSU loses to UND but still ties in record, then it depends on if NDSU or Omaha are #2 in the standings. SDSU beat Omaha once, and UND beat NDSU once.

Here's a Massey-projected odds for the tournament:(using Massey's matchup tool LINK)Denver wins vs SDSU 3-2 (68%) NDSU wins vs UND 3-1 (84%) USD wins vs Denver 3-1 (84%)
Omaha wins hosting NDSU 3-1 (88%)Omaha wins hosting USD 3-2 (57%)So Denver-SDSU and Omaha-USD are the two matches with the tightest odds. No sweeps predicted.

Looks like Omaha, NDSU and SDSU all accepted bids to the NIVC. With the parity in the league this year, I have to think at least one of those teams will make a run

Look for Drake to win this tournament In Round 3 (Quarterfinals), Drake appears to be the best team left in the field. Massey has them favored in all remaining matches. The most likely championship would be Boston College @ Drake (assuming facility availability) Should have bet on it.
