It just sucks. Everything about it. I think it's okay to just lament for a bit, before even talking about how this effects the future.
But, still, our response was a program defining and shaping moment. The girls could have just given in to emotion and folded and nobody would have thought less of them for it. But they fought through devastation and showed true heart. They'll be much better for that - with or without Juhnke.

Just getting home from Omaha. All I can say is wow. If that match had been broadcasted nationally, there would be millions of fans of Elizabeth and the USD Coyote volleyball team. Everyone in that arena ( other than Houston fans ) was cheering for the Coyotes. That was one gutty performance. Every coach on staff should show this match to their athletes. Phenomenal.
These gals gave everything they had plus some. I am so proud of these gals. After the game Houston’s coach said he’d never witnessed a team lay it out every play like USD did. He said when we won the 4th set he was behind nervous. You could see it on his face…the tension. Evelyn played great in substitution. I find absolutely zero fault and literally busting with pride.
No one knows for sure what the injury is, but there is some speculation her knee cap slid way out of position. I was a half court from her and she was writhing in pain. The pain was intense. Watch it on YouTube. You’ll be amazed at how hard and well these kids played. No one wants a loss but if there’s ever honor in one it was tonight.
Thank you ladies for representing us in the best light possible.

That match would make a very good sports movie. (or extended highlights video - hint, hint @mw )Total emotional rollercoaster. It's still available on ESPN+, if any of you haven't seen it.

Houston beats Auburn 3-0. With a healthy Juhnke I feel strongly that Leanne’s troops would’ve matched Dawns and advanced to the Sweet 16.
That’s how close these teams are outside of the Top 10

Houston did beat Auburn, but it was 3-2 and Houston was down 2-1, before winning the last 2 sets. I agree the Yotes would have a real strong chance of beating Auburn and advancing to the Sweet 16. The Yotes experience would have given them the edge over Auburn's youth.

I was watching game and saw terrible injury to Juhnke and it was reported as serious but I haven’t seen any report on what was the injury was to the knee. Like was it ACL or worse and what was time table to recovery. I was fearing it could career ending by pain and how they handled her leg before she left the court. I hope this not the case I hate to see players get hurt no matter case especially when they are so young have rest of their lives ahead of them and have deal with these injuries years after they done with there playing. I wish her well hope to see her playing again next year.
