Mason arms were maybe down just a bit, but he was pretty much straight up on the play in question. To me it looked like the UND player extended his arms forward on his shot in an attempt to draw the foul rather than trying to make the shot. At the end of the day, you never want to leave the outcome of the game in the hands of the officials.

He was whining about the no call on the broadcast last night. It wasn’t a foul and should never have been called one. It was good defense. An official blows the whistle on a situation like that with no clear foul, they deserve to eat that whistle. Let the players play in the final seconds unless it’s blatant. The officials did that.

Wow. I finally was able to watch the game on Midco+ tonight. Mason got away with one. Made contact on the elbow. I don't think there is a question. I was expecting to see something else based on the other posts.
It is true that the one thing working in the defender's favor is that officials don't want to call something they're not absolutely sure of at that point in the game. It wasn't like Mason just hammered him. That was a subtle foul.

The Hawks got some pretty questionable calls that allowed them to tie the game. The better team got the W.

Really hard to tell whether a foul occurred. The Midco guy losing his mind over it on the broadcast, continuing to complain in the post game, then going online to spout off some more is really embarrassing. He acted like something egregious happened.

The thing about that last play is that Sather got exactly what he wanted. They had Eaglestaff screen and then basically post-up Mason. Hindsight is 20/20 but Hayes and Archambault should have switched that screen so Hayes could defend against a baseball pass into the frontcourt.
