Schemmel floating the idea of black uniforms is interesting. You'd think they'd be saved for something bigger than Northern State. I'm sure most people will have an opinion on that.
Me, I don't care to ever see the black uniforms. If students and recruits like it then I guess it's good. Seems like a fad that peaked many years ago though.

I understand and share some of the frustrations people have with this, but also understand the reasons behind it. All in all, it’s not a bad outcome for what was a less than ideal situation. It’s a chance to safely experiment with a new-to-us option and I agree that we can choose to do our best to support it or not complain if we don’t. If attendance outlook is a concern, I wonder if we could move the student section back to the west side for this one game just to make attendance look a little better for the tv cameras. Probably a logistical nightmare with season tickets, but just a thought. As for playing Northern State, they may be the best D2 opponent choice - especially if we’re looking to establish a long-tern D2 fallback option. They should never upset us and the game may garner some media interest from smaller outlets that don’t typically cover USD sports. Go Yotes! Half of campus will probably be blasting out of Verm Thursday after class. This game is happening during the first week of classes. I skipped way too many classes in my time as a student and even I would be in the classroom for the entire first week. I had forgotten it was Labor Day weekend. A Saturday game would have seen a ton of students out of town and unable to attend a game until a whole month into the season. An administration that wants to fully engage the students should make a move like this. Creates an opportunity to make an impression on the freshmen right away and hopefully build something that lasts with that class. The initial announcement shocked me on a few levels but I get it now. I'm still hoping for a kickoff closer to 5 than 7.

The Gophers do something similar - a Thursday night game against an FCS or G5 opponent, but get all of the new students there as part of opening week activities. Works pretty well, TBH.

A free t shirt and a game that's over at halftime isn't enough to create a culture and expectation that a class of students show up on gamedays. I'm hoping for a later kickoff, honestly. Give kids a chance to finish those 3 o'clock classes, grab a bite, and head over to the dome for a short tailgate at least.

herosports.com/fcs-playoffs-seed-16-bzbz/Starting this season the FCS playoffs will be seeded 1-16. Top 8 seeds still receive a bye. Seeds 9-16 host the first round playoff game. Second round will be 1 vs 16, 2 vs 15, etc. This is excellent news as it should mean less regionalization (i.e. the MVFC cannibalizing itself while the crap teams out east get to play each other). It also helps erase the old question of who is going to host first round playoff games via the bid process.

I think it pretty much ensures a MVFC v Big Sky party in the semifinals most years.

That is pretty cool. Totally expected the Wisconsin game to be buried on BTN at 11 AM.
Getting on TV during conference play is tremendous. ESPN is broadcasting the Dakota Marker game the week prior as well. I'm wondering if they are doing that in case they want one for Gameday. Surely going to be on ESPNU or something if it isn't chosen for Gameday.

Have to admit I am glad the Badgers game is at 2:30. 11 may have been tough after the night out before…for me, not the team.
